Awesome!
Also, what if there was an "under the ocean" NAC or an "Under Water Nac". I think It could bring out some awesome entries. Also, an "evolution of music" NAC could be cool, where competitors write a song that starts of with prehistoric like music and gradually evolves through the different musical ages. OR there could be an "emotion" NAC, where the judges choose an emotion and the contestants try to create a song portraying that emotion.
I dunno, just brainstorming...
That's actually a good idea! Chronological evolution of music progression in one song. Inspiring for sure. Let's remember that one for future NAC ideas.
Just started a dubstep song today, legit coincidence. Feelin pretty confident about this one.

This would be a true test of skill and certainly result in some interesting submissions.
I like this idea!

maybe we will have it for june - I still like the acapella idea for may - I wanna spread across a wide spectrum of musical techniques and ideas so that everyone has a chance to participate over the year.
"chron"ological eh.. hmm.. it has my username in it.. I like it :P
all hail me! ROFL..
emotion contests if I recall correctly have been unsuccessful in the past simply because it's so damn hard to judge and peopel get indignant that their emotions weren't portayed properly. It just has too much potential for disaster. It's better to have concrete limitations so peopel are very aware of where they stand and how they are going to be judged. You also have to factor in judge bias, which while unfavourable, still exists regardless, which is why I choose different judges each time - ones I feel will judge the current contest fairly.
So I was gonan work on the sigs last night.. buuut then I fell asleep. So I will have to do those later on tonight, as well as post the new contest and pm tom with the results and post the results. I already have them, I just don't feel it's right to post them without the sigs being made :)

I´m pretty sure i know. But if i knew, i would know that. ALSO - i would´ave remembered if i knew something... Right?
you never knooooowwwwww ;)
I guess that makes sense.
So as I said before this month will have 2 contests - the main uplifting/heavenly contest that will be the main NAC - and brokendeck's dubstep contest.
It has come to my attention that other users asking tom for approval for their contests.. didn't go over so well. As a result if you want tom's support just tell me your contest idea a month before you make it and I will throw it in my monthly email to tom saying that my ndea, and yours, will be the 2 contests for that month and then he can just award the store credit that way.

Agreed.
So we CAN sample vocals in this (vocals published under CC and approved to use by the author)?
Splicin'em though, you cant recognize words or previous melodies in the orginal.
Let the cheesy chord progressions begin!

God i hate the fact there being no edit button. soz for DP. But yes Jp, as long as the vocals is newly created. Right?

Do they have to be created SPECIFICALLY for your song though, thats my question.

true dat, stole my dubstep idea.
Will ambient/techno like this work for the heavenly NAC?

That sounds divine. That would most certainly work for the April NAC.
At 4/1/11 03:48 PM, Chronamut wrote: "Uplifting / Heavenly themed" you say? Why that could cover a lot of things! Things like:
Angelic choirs!
Music with nice relaxing waves in the bg!
Sweeping goregeous pads!
Foresty flutey stuff!
Harps and pianos, bells!
Happy happy happy sounding music!
all of the above combined with a driving beat
Does this mean an uplifting country piece about momma, hard work to get somewhere, trucks, redemption, and/or community won't work well for this competition?

Dude I'm going Eskmo/Synkro style for mine. Dunno how that'll work out, but shut up.
This is gonna be a long two weeks...

ehhh.. I found that song too muffled and the melodies too.. random sounding.. would need to be mroe structured.. more crisp.. more focus on the high end.
