As far as I know, the only way to even test your stuff on iPhone/iPad is to buy the $100 license. And yes, you *can* make iphone games with flash. Although I believe it runs much faster when written in objective-c.

Free no, but with the latest version of flash (cs5, about $700, $200 for students) you can with actionscript 3, but I heard apps were really slow and you couldnt make complex games on it.

Yes. You can make things for free, but just for YOUR iPod / iPhone, but it has to be jailbroken. With enough searching around the internet you can get hold of the certificate and provisioning file.

I tried CS5's packager for my iPod.

Its too slow, CS5's not the tool to use if your serious about making apps.

Apparently with AS3 and AIR you can make apps, but if you want them on the app store you need the license. You can dwonload the SDK (its free) and develop apps just for your device, then if you like it you can buy the license.

My websites: MayesMods | FireStorm | I'm also on almost every other website in existence, mostly under the username: andy70707 (youtube: brainiac777, eBay: 10andy70707).

If your'e looking to make money, I wouldnt bother. The App Store is already saturated as hell and the vast majority of games go on to sell 10's of copys. Unless you grab Apples attention or have a LOT of promotion, it seems like a massive waste of time to me. Plus, the Flash export is so limiting that youre gonna be hard pressed to make anything worth playing, let alone paying for!

You can't test them without the license either, not even on the emulator (which is Mac only).

You can develop iPhone games in all sorts of programming languages, for 3D games i would really recommend UDK.
