Generally, yes - we're after "music", which voice acting doesn't come under, unless it's a cappella. Also, with something like that, we're tying to get new and original pieces the chance that they deserve. Rather than focusing on recognised artists, why not give the little guy a break?
It looks like LouisCyphre2501 didn't read the fine print for the contest. I've just removed the amended entry, since you should proof read and make any alterations before posting the entry to the thread.
Just over a week to go for the entries and I hope that we can get some sort of boost in the numbers, because it would be sad just to have 11 entries on a contest I had such high hopes for.
In other news, I have three judges so far and am after more.
Current Judges:
Coop
BrianEtrius

PM Me if you are interested, I'll see if we can get a gang of five together and get this one judged soon after closing.

Agreed. On the other hand, polishing them up and checking for spelling/grammatical should be high priority.
Oh, and now, not only is sucking up permitted, but highly encouraged. :-p

Hm. I thought I was returning as a judge Coop? Anyway, I was working on submitting an entry, just because. However, finding an inspiring song for the type of story (screenplay?) that I want is proving difficult.

Sorry, I must have brushed over that - I'd like more people to have a crack at it, so perhaps you'll be up for the March / April contest? I should be getting that one sorted soon, so people should stay tuned :D
If I can keep you as a first reserve, this time around, would that be okay?
Right, so the judging lineup has now been finalised.

I apologise for missing PMs if they have happened. Being a mod, I get a shed load of PMs and some do get missed, sadly.

Don't most people always post their stories really late? At least that's been the case in previous contests, where the number of stories could double a few days before the deadline.
Anyway, I'm still working on mine.
Well it was kinda touch-and-go with distractions and real-life happenings but I'm done with my story! I might look over it to check for grammar and such but you can definitely expect my entry before the deadline :D
There is no Mercy, only DoDonPachi
finished first draft, currently under judgement of my peers, last touch ups should be completed shortly
This one was really tough. We were bound to have fewer submissions than usual, coop, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think/thought that this was a terrific idea and in tune with the objectives T. Fulperino has for the writing forum. A real win in my book.
Besides, I did a quick once-over, and I thought one or two of these (I looked at maybe 3) would make legit flash videos.
PS- I think we should expect the judges (me included) to have read and ranked the stories by next Saturday, so we can get the judging done in a timely manner, with critiques to follow not long after. The stories are shorter than last time, so I think that should be do-able for us.

Possibly.
As is, I'm probably about 3/4 the way through the entries, but the critiques are just brief notes. I'll want to go into more detail, but I should probably be done before the end of February (I'm accounting for real life things to get in the way).

You'll hear when you'll hear, and not until after the contest is over. Otherwise it would be an unfair advantage. Just be patient.

I just posted my story. Sorry it as after the "NG Midnight" (it's still not midnight here lol; I honestly hate to make excuses) but there was a conflict between me and AudioVision (who composed the piece within a week specifically after a request). Anyway, hopefully it is accepted into the contest. Peace.

You're damned lucky that I forgot to close it yesterday. I should have shut it about a day before, but I can't go throwing people out for my indiscretions.
You're still in. If people want to review these pieces and post critique, it is welcome here, stay tuned for a results thread in the near(ish) future.

Lol as I said earlier take your time.
It takes a lot to piss me off these days - even if you just opened a thread trying to display the results, I'd just delete it - that's not me being pissed off.

I can't speak for the other judges, but I've started my own judging process. I'm only a few stories in, but I'll be spending tonight doing what Coop expects of me.
Also, I'm writing up reviews for each piece as I go along, given that helps me to further narrow down what I liked and didn't like about the story. If you want me to send you that review when the contest is over, send me a personal message and I'd be more than happy.
Just keep in mind that they are by no means comprehensive, but they do outline what I think are the major faults.
Alright, hit me, I need some constructive criticism.

I'm sorry for that late story, Coop, I misread his instructions. He told me it was due Monday at midnight, which I took as "midnight that night" rather than "midnight that morning". My baaad.
Holy shit, I thought it was due on the 14th. So Monday 11:59pm is still Monday. My bad, need to read deadline more carefully.

I've finished scoring the entries. I'm probably the only one who has though, and there's still the possible meet-up on stickam that's on our plates.
When I got outside, the purple fog was spreading. I covered my nose and mouth, and ran home.

Then you both need to go and see an optician. I said 0300 hrs Newgrounds Time on Monday the 14th of February :P

This is one of the reasons I close the contests at 3am - no confusion about which midnight it is and I'm online at that time to lock it (when I remember, that is.)

Hmm, I'm guessing the individual scores won't be posted until all judges finish right?

...I finished a week ago, and I'm halfway through critiques
I'm about 3/4 through the critiques...I hope to be done this weekend.

Hey, you!
Do you know an animator, who might want to animate your script?
At 3/7/11 01:55 PM, Coop wrote: Hey, you!

Then send them here!
So you're having a flash contest where animators animate the entire script?
That's why I was confused at first, I thought only the winning entry would be commissioned by an animator.
Also, shouldn't the animator post which script he's going to animate, so two don't animate one script, or is that ok?

Yeah - why not? I asked Tom and he was really encouraged by it all :)
That's why I was confused at first, I thought only the winning entry would be commissioned by an animator.
I don't have that much sway - I remember when the scripts would be read by people, but that just hasn't attracted anyone willing to do it these days.
Also, shouldn't the animator post which script he's going to animate, so two don't animate one script, or is that ok?
Nah - you can have more than one person try to interpret a script. It stops the better writers in the competition getting lumbered with a procrastinating child who runs in, yells "dibbs!" and then leaves, not having any intention of animating the script. I want as many piece as possible, to judge.
