4.07 / 5.00 13,902 ViewsI've been putting this off again and again, thinking that I'd rather improve more before a thread. But eventually it was realised that this way a thread would never be made. And thus, this is where the line is drawn.
Welcome to Redeemer's realm.
That's a very nice sketchbook you have there. It'd be a sssshame if something happened to it...
A picture for EENet's (Estonian Educational and Research Network) 2010 computer drawing competition. We had a choise of 10 topics and of those I chose "Habitats disappear, species disappear" (clumsy translation, but you get the gist). For this, I portrayed not the death of the elder, but of those that should keep the species going, chicks in this case.

Fun story - I originally wanted to paint a koala hanging on to a lone tree, which would have been horribly adorable. Then I remembered that koalas don't live in Europe <_<
Lately I've been doing a bucketload of micro-paintings - paintings done on canvases of varied size, but within 5X5 cm. But being absent-mided as I am, I forgot to make proper scans of most of them before I got them sold >_<.
So, these are three that I had the sanity to scan. A pal comissioned three paintings to use as Christmas gifts and the two upper ones are for him and his loved one (duh) while the lower one is for his friend. Something trippy, he requested.
On a sidenote, these are most likely bigger than life on your screen.
So wait, are you back for good now, or is this just another one of your teases which ends up with you leaving for a great deal of time?

I instantly thought of angry birds upon seeing the eggs. For a split second i also mistook the crane for a slingshot.
I ran. I ran until my muscles burned, and my veins pumped battery acid. Then I ran some more.

Good grief!
That pencil of yours sure is creepy!

.....No *silly grin*
Erm yeah, consistency isn't a strong point of mine. On the other hand, I've used that time well and built up a large collection of stuff to showcase.
I'm so going to hate the 4 posts/30 minutes limit...
Starting up with the last of the mini-paintings. A 7X10 cm chameleon. On a strangely-coloured background, staring into your soul with a strange look.
Last of the mini-paintings. This was comissioned for an ex-teacher of mine who desired something wintery. I remembered a sketch of a nearly daily scene at my home and offered to draw that.
Made for an school assignment, a comic about the 1920's in the US.
As many others, I believe, I too have accumulated a good deal of art supplies over time. Amongst them are 4 sets of watercolours, only one of which I really care for.
So I took the most primitive of my watercolour sets, a cheap 6-colour one, and figured that if I doodled up enough things I could have a crappy set of colours well spent.
I ran out of paper before I ran out paint. Goddamn.
The second set of the watercolour doodles.
As part of a German lesson assigment, we had to read a book and then do some small taks related to the text. Amongst them was designing the book a new cover.
So, this is my rendition of what Erich Kästner's "Drei Männer im Schnee" might have looked like. Got kinda blue though.
Also, this shows why one has to plan out everything before painting with watercolours. Mid-way moodswings a'la "Oh, let's draw an aurora here!" will lead to lots of frustration.
I don't have a whole lot to say about this. I was staring at those slick, shiny speakers on my English teacher's table one day and caught myself thinking - man, what a great hovercar they would make!
<_<
>_>
Small in-class sketches of people presenting.
TO-DO LIST: study 'em faces.
*Yet* another schoolwork, this time for Russian lesson, illustrating a scene from a short story we are/were reading.
I used a 6-pencil set of sepia pencils for that, curious to see what effect they might give (this excludes the purple sky). Still have a good deal to learn about their usage, but I'm intrigued by the initial results.
Oh god, I feel like I'm raining on my own parade. Never again such delays!
I have David Revoy's awesome brush kit for the GIMP. But along with it came a selection of colour palettes and I started itching to do something with them. This is the first of the palette madnesses, with the palette used in the top-left corner.
It's a nice experiment, nudges one out of their colour comfort zone.
Nice, some traditional work. I'm liking the paintings.

More on the way

For the seventh Friday Flood. Only I was too slow to make it in. Gahhh.
It's a grey squirrel. By a grey bird feeder house. During the time of the year when FRIGGIN EVERYTHING is grey.
A scrapped version of a potential image for the Apocalypse Art Collab. The idea was to show a "nuclear winter" brought about by colossal amounts of space junk and the following slow, cold withering of civilization. Only, as I realised, it's darned hard to depict space junk blocking out the sun from ground level <_<
Gnnngh, this has been the bane of my existence for a while. Think I repainted it 4-5 times but it still doesn't look the way I would want to to be.
not to mention it's bloody hard to photograph traditional paintings
I have a lousy memory. And thus, I occasionally blame the Mind Furnace. It nom, noms my memories for...something. World domination maybe. Or just uses them to generate electricity it can then sell to some corporation. Green energy, ahoy!
In the middle of the winter, the outside often looked like it was made out of two colours only - dark purple shades and light orange highlights.
Which sounds like a smashing colour scheme for a speedpainting.
Only it isn't, bawwww
Revenge of the Titans.
It's one frustrating game. It's a constant series of Phyrric victories....and yet it's that strange sort of fun, the against-all-odds-vicotry kind of fun.
A sketch of one of the drones from the game. Redesigned.
Very nice arts you got here! I specially like the Mind Furnace and the heart you posted.
My creation for the first round of AVAT. Having seen the article about human-robots relationships I remembered the (jokingly awkward, but nevertheless) Tankmen's respect for their tank. Thus, Lucy, the tankmen's pet lover/demolition bot was born.
Had fun with the perspective, even if it came out awkward.
DAMNED ANTIGRAVITY, HOW DOES IT WORK?
But yeah. I love squirrels. Every year they visit our bird's feeding house during the winter and nom all the food meant for birds. We let them d that because they are just so unmeasurably adorable while doing that.
And strange. Hanging upside down with only your tail holding you attached? No problem. Climbing down a tree head-first? Piece of cake.

i really like this one, gives a nice feel.
...nice feel...? As in?
This one's based on an old sketch of mine that I kept lying around. A jeep left in the mercy of the teeth of time.
As a beginner driver, nighttime rides have always been a nightmare for me. It's when making out the different vehicles and traffic lights becomes significantly trickier and when all the lights start melding together into one large hateful, dangerous sea of light.
IT'S HARD WORK KEEPING IN MIND TO UPDATE THIS REGULARLY.
For the legendary (not) AVAT round 2.

Also, first time drawing an equine. Brrrrr
