well , i got my new pen tablet and I tried out some digital painting, which i am new too, along with photoshop which i haven't properly used before.

i traced the outline and painted it my self.

It's not 100% done, the face, feet, and a few little nikkles here and there.

what do you think, advice ,constructive critisism and tips would be appreciated, thanks.,

I think it looks good. I myself am just starting to make digital art as well.

I was actually planning on getting gimp in the near future. Thank's for the suggestion.

not bad for your first attempt, just work on your lines and do more sharp brush strokes.

thanks, yeh i have a bad habit of sticking with the hardness down.

i think the lines are bad due to the fact i have no desk and it;s a bedroom computer so im lying on my bad drawing, which is pretty difficult.

thanks guys.

I'd have to agree that the next step would be to tidy up the lines, it always amazes me how a drawing can be transformed just from sharpening edges.

Another tip i seem to mention a lot around here with digital art is not to work straight onto a white canvas, whether you work in tone or hue first, lay down some mid range tone and it will help to establish correct values.

Regardless, your off to a brilliant start!

thanks alot!

yeh I've often seen videos of when they lay down a mid tone first and I'm starting to understand why. When your working with opacity you dont tend to notice how some places are not there. thanks for that I'l keep it in mind.

and how would you suggest i tidy up the lines? just using a hard brush? or a pen tool, with stroked path?

well i gave up with this one after i realised i drew it realy small so i had to relarge it and now it doesn't look as good.

I used a coloured tone before i started to colour like someone suggested and it helped alot, not any blank spots on him.

i also tried to use more defined lines.

It's not thjat good but it only took about 20 minutes i was hoping to get it detailed but i ende up drawing it small and i just didn't feel like it after i enlarged it.

Using a harder brush is most definitely the better way to go, keep working on it man!

the first one was because it was my first ever attemp and I'd rather practice on a clear picture instead of attempting to draw something straight away and then messing it up even more.

2nd one was a reference and third is really shit with no sign of a picture.

Yet they keep getting better the less you draw from someone else's stuff. Keep it up and take your time on pics.

i feel as though it's coming along nicely.

what do you think?

this isn't from a reference straight from the head, that's why the anatomy might be off. It's also why i can't draw the bloody hands!

i can draw hands on paper but it's just that drawing was fully done in photoshop and it'l be hard to judge, anyway I'm leaving that picture alone for awhile.

Looking good, don't forget to intensify your highlights and shadings. Point 1 light-source and use your sense of logic to see where the shades drop. Every single bump has a shade.
