I have never played Runescape. Thus its failure to grab my attention and get on my desktop is my beef >: (

I quit playing it because the community makes mw2 online look decent. And when i got oblivion that pretty much ended it fo rme.

I think its just the "Justin Bieber" effect.

Anything/anyone that makes more money than you will ever be capable of in your lifetime is automatically a deposit box for every inflammatory negative comment, emotion, or quality you can put into it. Note, there are people with legititmate criticisms of it. There are people who think its cool not to like it but have never played it a good five to six minutes. There are people who are just going to say "its garbage" and are too hare-brained to think up a better answer for this question.

I personally liked it, it was my first MMO, so I'm a tad biased perhaps. I haven't played it in years and I only occasionally log into my old account just to see all of the changes.

I love runescape its a fun game, theres alot of shit you can do and espically when your member. Theres mini-games where you have war with other players with like 200 vs 200 and it doesn't get very laggy. Or if you want the most intence expericene on runescape then go to war on pvp worlds. Its what me and my cousins do, we look for people in pvp worlds and own them or we get owned. Alot of fun auctally.

I used to play this game.. was level 106. everyone in my school stopped playing the game (dont know why) but I kept on playing. The only reason I stopped was because my computer is crap... and it lagged a lot.

Yeah, the map is huge. That's good. But your character is always walking, and if you want to sprint you do it like for 5 seconds, then you have to wait 5 minutes if you want to sprint again. This makes more boring the game, plus the map, as I said, is huge, so instead of good is worse.
Graphics? Well, I won't say anything about the graphics, since it's just a browser game, but they could be better.
Yes, there's a lot of stuff to do (like leveling up abilities like mining, runecrafting, etc.), but the fact the game is so boring ruins everything.

I'm not a fan of RuneScape but I'm at least willing to admit the game is damn good for a browser based MMORPG, probably the best of it's kind.

I played the game for 3 years and it just got boring. I agree everyone rages and hates it but I don't understand why haters play it myself. If you don't like it then don't play it. But it's kinda fun after a year. Guess I out of it.

I think most of us here should at least be able to agree that if you're not a member, then the game is rather shit.

Nearly every community in "free to play" MMOs tends to suck because it attracts the worst kind of people as a result of being free. Noob is a common insult on Maplestory as well as Runescape.

I dislike runescape because of how gung ho the GMs are on a non-paying member. I got banned permanently for cussing once. Well no need to spend money on that game esp. if Im going to get banned permanently and have my appeals ignored for a small infraction like that.

The community is crap, and the graphics are just horrible. It's sooooooo boring.

Are you fucking retarded? When I became a member 90% of the high leveled players were nice to me, its more like 10% which are trolls and nerds that take it to seroius. And it only costs like $6 to become a member, where the fuck did you get $15 from.

Also, it sounds like the last time you played runescape was in 2006, because they fixed all that shit you mentioned. And the graphics are high-def now, the sound effects are MUCH better, and now you can run much longer, and your energy comes but WAY faster, and you can also rest to make your energy come back 3 times faster. So your argument is complete fail.

You get what you paid for. Free version is very boring and shitty, the only fun good things to do as a high level player is to either pvp, play fist of guthix or clan wars.

I would have to say that the game was a lot of fun except for the fact that a free account was relativity limited in areas you could go and thing that you could do.
But i was a member for about six months and i had a lot of fun. only ever got up to level 42 but still lots of fun hours wasted on the endless depth of walking everywhere and watching me brother get increasingly pissed of as i would not get of the computer.
But its damned impressive for a browser game due to its size.

I played runescape a long time ago with my cousin, It brings me fond memories of us playing together, because we don't talk much anymore :P Anyway, it gets me a heavy dose of nostalgia so I can never get anything wrong to say about it. The only problem is it tends to get monotonous, without money or anything, you don't get pretty far and the uqests are too little for non-members .

The game a very popular game, and is generally liked because of simple controls, ability to talk and fight, free, and can interact with different people.
but, it has been out-dated and can be very glitchy and laggy at multiple times. The gameplay is very repetitive, and your actions for fighting and such never change, causing it to be boring.
Not trying to be a dick, but the general consensous is that you should not play the game after the age of 12-13.
I stopped because I realised that I could be doing something else that's more fun and worthwhile.
Hopefully questions have been answered.

Not the best quality, but you get the point.

Clearly, this one does not understand that this game runs on a Java Platform. Besides that, about five years ago when I was playing, I found the quest and leveling system to be addictive and fun to a certain extent. It was decent for an online mmorpg at the time.

Also, graphics aren't everything, kid.

Oh, you're tough. Although I do not play runescape anymore, i have to agree with Chiroz. You pretty much do not know both what you are talking about or the state of the game today.

Bear in mind, however, that I am not defending every aspect of this game, I agree that there are quite a few faults, just like most games. Most, if not all of the arguments you made, however, have been fixed or were outright fallacies. Just saying.
