it's been almost a year since i updated this thread.
i thought i would never come back, but you know, never say never. a lot of things happened, i created another thread because i feared my first crappy drawings detained people from enjoying my art, i stopped working seriously for a while, did some commissions, started a comic project involving poetry for my graduation essay, stopped working at it just to do it few days before my final exam, i graduated and then stopped working again for the whole summer; and all of this just takes us here, as i'm writing this.
i suppose once in a while you have to come back to your origins, just to see where you started, where you arrived and if people remember you. anyway i decided to restart from where i left off, to continue composing the canvas of my artistic evolution as it developes. hope you missed me. enjoy.

Hey, TY3, welcome back man, nice Balrog.
now i'm gonna upload the creation process of my comic about T.S. Eliot's "The Wasteland". i started in december by doing some concept art of the main character, Tiresias.
and here's the second one, in his environment, a wasted desert.
and now the sketches i made in pencil to put down the pages' layout. sorry for the bad quality, but they're aweful scans; i tried to cheer them up a little adjusting tone and contrast but they're sad anyway.
this is the cover of the comic. this section is called "The Burial of the Dead" and in fact as you can see we have quite a good dead here, haven't we?
this is the sketch of the last page. i know it's pretty much a blank paper, but if you look closely you can see some speech boxes and a note which reads "LONDON BRIDGE". ok, i admit it, it's pretty lame, but soon i'll show you the finished work so... get excited kids.

I have no idea what's going on here but having seen your previous work I expect it's going to be good.

thank you for trusting me and my mental sanity, but as you will see even colored this comic is some messed up shit. all the text comes from the poem directly, i didn't edited it; i just tried to illustrate it. don't blame me. it's Eliot's fault.
anyway here's the colored cover.

The bones don't look like they're half buried. They look more like they're stunted and end right at the ground.

yeah, maybe you're right, but i didn't really manage to make them look that way, perhaps because i've never seen such a thing and don't know how to draw it properly.

That's why people use references.
maybe covering them with a little bit of dirt would have helped.
however this is the first page, colored and finished.

Looks great! I'm not really one to complain about messed up stuff :p
Makes me think of Watchmen, is it a reference?
The cover looks neat, maybe cracks and dirt on the ground around the bones could make it look more buried.
Can't wait to see the follow-up.

thank you. talkin about watchmen, i really dig that novel, but honestly i didn't take it as a reference: its style is more old-fashion, with alligned panels etc. i was inspired by more recent graphic novels and styles, such as craig mullin's.
also here is the second page, since i already finished the comic and want to show the process.
finally we come to the conclusion of the first and only part of the comic. what? four pages are not enough? what do you mean by "lazy"? you have no idea what you're talking about. its shortness is its beauty. more pages would have ruined it. also i didn't have time. i had to prepare it for my exam. "what about now" you say? well, you know what they say, "forgive and forget"; no, that' inappropriate. ok. ok, i'm lazy.
since we're talking about comics, here's an old work of mine. i did tis in january for a contest on deviantart. we had to illustrate three already written panels for The Darkness. unfortunately i wasn't selected.
just finished my last work, a wallpaper about Watchmen, a great novel (i don't feel like calling it a comic because that's reductive) which changed the way super heroes were depicted, since its authors, Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, insert the characters in a human system of moral values. if you don't know it go, find a copy and read it. it's worth it.
and now an older work i did for my sister's birthday. she's so random.

changed it a bit: i added some glow to Dr Manhattan.
working on something. i can't tell you more, but here's a lil' wip.

these days it seems i can't really stop drawing. i must have.. what's the opposit of artblock? artflow? man, i literally have lots of ideas to realize and fortunately the necessary time.
and now the thing finished. it took me a little more than expected cause borderlands 2 came out 2 weeks ago and then i had to start university.
