Best Shooter
1st. Call of Duty Black Ops
2nd. Halo Reach
3rd. Battlefield Bad Company 2

Black Ops starts it off by winning this award. The game did have an "interesting" single player campaign and it was accompanied by a more balanced and less rage inducing (ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? I KNIFED HIM FIRST!) Multiplayer.

Best RPG
1st. Fallout: New Vegas
2nd. Mass Effect 2
3rd. Final Fantasy 13

Fallout New Vegas takes the RPG honors this year. Even with its fair share of bugs and glitches, it still gave us an interesting tale of revenge in the Strip, accompanied by the trademark Fallout humor and an interesting cast of characters.

Best Rhythm Game
1st. Rock Band 3
2nd. A two way tie between Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock and DJ Hero 2

Rock Band 3 adds more pizazz with its newest installment. With a host of new songs and the option to play all of the older Rock Band songs (for a nominal fee of course), it's not surprising this came out on top.

Best Driving Game
1st. Gran Turismo 5
2nd. Blur
3rd. Three way tie between SplitSecond, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, and Formula F1 2010.

The first thing you can say about GT5 is that it's a pretty game. It also showcases over 1000 cars to use in some of the most realistic in car views ever seen. Yeah...I don't play these games but Kevin Butler helped advertise for it so it must be good right?

Best Action Game
1st. God of War 3
2nd. Red Dead Redemption
3rd. Just Cause 2

GOW3 comes in and shows just how good killing mythological creatures can look. Everything from the graphics,to the platforming, to the epic battles shines in this game and you'll be drowning in gallons of blood before its all over.

Best Sports Game
1st. FIFA 11
2nd. NHL 2011
3rd. Two way tie between NBA Jam and NBA 2K11

In before "EW I HATE SPORTS GAMES! THEY'RE ONLY MEANT FOR JOCKS AND CASUAL GAMERS!" And before you go on making that childish claim, just know that FIFA 11 will kick your ass up and down the field with how good it is.

Best IPhone Game
1st. A two way tie between Fruit Ninja and Angry Birds

IPhone games still aren't as well known because it caters to a much smaller niche group than consoles and PC. Even so, the few people who voted let some of the better games be known. Check them out if you ever find yourself in the possession of one.

Best PSP Game
1st Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
2nd. Tie between God of War: Ghost of Sparta and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep

MGS Peace Walker was hands down the most impressive title for the PSP this year and maybe for the handhelds entire life cycle thus far. A 50+ hour game packed into such a small space is an impressive feat.

Best DS Game
1st. Pokemon: Heart Gold/Soul Silver
2nd. Tie between Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, and Pokemon: Black/White

Another Pokemon installment takes his prize. Cute creatures and evil genius levels of advertising towards children help vault this into the number one spot.

Best Wii Game
1st. Super Mario Galaxy 2
2nd. Kirbys Epic Yarn
3rd. Donkey Kong Country Returns

SMG2 is widely regarded as one of the best platformers ever made and it's little surprise to see it take the award. Hands up if you want a SMG3.

Best Xbox 360 Game
1st. Halo Reach
2nd. Mass Effect 2
3rd. Alan Wake

Bungie's final Halo installment takes this award. A new single player and an expanded multiplayer (including jet packs!) definitely make this game worthy.

Best PS3 Game
1st. Heavy Rain
2nd. God of War 3
3rd. Demon Souls

Heavy Rain was certainly an interesting game. Going from trying to find you kid in a mall (JASON! JAAASON! JAYSOOOON!) to trying to unravel a mystery where your other sons life hangs in the balance, this game was full of epic QTE action.

Best PC Game
1st. Starcraft 2
2nd. Tie between COD Black Ops and Torchlight

SC2 finally was released this year and if you were as excited as I was you might have bought a whole new computer just so you could play this game (which I did). This continuation of the Starcraft story did great justice to the characters and the visuals.

Best PSN/XBL/WiiWare Game
1st. Super Meat Boy
2nd. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
3rd. Castle Crashers (PSN)

All of these are epic games and what makes it better is that two out of three are directly related to Newgrounds. SMB had excellent level design and spot on controls to make it one of the most addicting games to come out this year.

Best Multiplayer Game
1st. Call of Duty Black Ops
2nd. Battlefield Bad Company 2
3rd. Halo Reach

Black Ops takes home another award. As mentioned before, its multiplayer was a lot more toned down than its predecessor. Apparently the PS3 version is still having issues too, but even so, this is one of more addicting MP games this year.

Best Graphics
1st. Gran Turismo 5
2nd. Halo Reach
3rd. God of War 3

I already said this once. Gran Turismo 5 is a pretty game where even the smallest details of the cars you drive in are represented. Nothing much else to say.

Best Game Soundtrack
1st. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
2nd. Alan Wake
3rd. Red Dead Redemption

SPvTW was definitely has one of the best musical experiences in any game this year. A lot of it is a throwback to earlier arcade beat em ups and some of the tunes just never get old. Like this one.

Best Console
1st. Xbox 360
2nd. PS3
3rd. Wii

This was the closest race in any category. Xbox won out by one vote and it was neck and neck the entire way. And who could argue that Xbox didn't had a great year with a lineup that included Halo Reach, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell Conviction, and Crackdown 2? And don't forget that at the time of its release Mass Effect 2 was considered an Xbox exclusive as well.

Best Online Service
1st. Xbox Live
2nd. Tie between Steam and PSN

Xbox takes home another one. XBL is in short an amazing service that lets you access many old and new arcade games, watch movies and TV shows, listen to music through the Zune application, watch sports for free using ESPN's tab, and lets you communicate with your friends though party chat or in game in an easy to navigate setup. Steam and PSN are both great services in their own right, but apparently they'll need to step it next year to take Xbox Live off its throne.

This award shouldn't be as stinging to Wii owners considering they got a lot of great games this year including Metroid Other M, Donkey Kong Returns, Kirbys Epic Yarn, and Super Mario Galaxy 2...damn how is this the worst console of the year again? Anyways, wallow in sorrow Wii owners for you have the worst console of 2010 (supposedly)

Best Game Nobody Played
1st. Deadly Premonition
2nd. Super Scribblenauts
3rd. Just Cause 2

Deadly Premonition is an amazing game that suffered from not getting enough press and looking like a PS2 game on the Xbox. But it has an amazing murder mystery story that goes beyond what many of the most popular games today have to offer. It's only 20 bucks too so if you have the extra cash and an Xbox 360, go check it out.

Most Overrated Game
1st. Call of Duty Black Ops
2nd. Halo Reach
3rd. Gran Turismo 5

This won by a landslide and apparently either you were all expecting a lot more from this game or you just wanted to be edgy and cool by voting for a popular game. Either way, this is your undeservingly highly praised winner.

Most Creative Game
1st. Tie between Heavy Rain and Limbo
3rd. Super Mario Galaxy 2

Both HR and Limbo in their own way were very creative. Heavy Rain took players through a story in a unique way never done before, and Limbo's minimalist style was adored by a lot of people. Together they share this award.

1st. Alan Wake
2nd. Tie between Super Meat Boy and Heavy Rain

Alan Wake is without a doubt one of the strongest new IPs to be created this year. Everything about this game is unique and new from the story to the combat to the narration method. This is one series that has a bright future (assuming that they are making Alan Wake 2)

The One That Got Away
1st. Tie between Portal 2 and LittleBigPlanet 2
3rd. Dead Space 2

I think LBP had more of a case to come out in 2010 than Portal but take it as the two games that you people can't wait to get your hands on. I'm sure both will be spectacular when they do come out.

Biggest Disappointment.
1st. Halo Reach
2nd. Tie between Red Dead Redemption and Rock Band 3

Oh Halo. You could have been so much more. You wasted your potential, and you let down every single person who played you who was hoping for more. We will forever shame you, while we play Final Corridor Fantasy 13 which lived up to everyone's expectations.

Game of the Year

2nd. Tie between Call of Duty Black Ops and Halo Reach

And here is the big daddy of them all. Red Dead Redemption was certainly a great game with a great take on the wild west. Wrangling horses, robbing stores, hunting mountain lions, refusing women's sexual advances because you're married, THIS GAME HAD IT ALL! A very solid choice for GOTY 2010.

I know what's wrong with Wii. The NES and SNES had shooters and hardcore violent games therefore it was apealing to older ages. Then N64 had some good ones like 00764. Then Gamecube with awesome stuff like Resident Evil and such. Now there's wii. Other than Kirby, Link, samus & Mario and all those guys they've stooped to low. And before anything is said, I own a PS3 and a 360, a pretty capable PC. My brother owns all 3 consoles, and gets all the good Wii games so I've played the big exclusives this year

Definitely good choices, but I'd give BC2 the top position, then CoD, then Reach. Reach is good, but not all it was hyped up to be, no sir.

Completely agree, except maybe I'd put Heart Gold/Soul Silver on their in place of FF13? I haven't played FF13 so I guess thats not a valid opinion. New Vegas is fucking brilliant :D So was Mass Effect 2, build on the previous game and improved alot.

Not a huge fan of rhythm games, but alot of people are and what I've heard from magazines, Joystiq and Gamesradar these seem like appropriate choices.

Not too sure on this one. From what I've read, GT5 was a big dissapointment. Good game, but too much like the previous. Hot Pursuit was supposed to have been great though, so maybe swap the too around?

Soul Silver was a great choice, a real nostalgia trip for me. Was addicted to it as a child, and this was a lovely revisit.

All choices I would make, but I'd swap DK with Kirby.

Ahh, Heavy Rain. Enjoyed this game immensely. Didn't take me long to complete, but a great story that was making me guess at every turn.

Super Meat Boy. Wow, most enjoyable game I've played in a long time. A brilliant, proper platformer that's a great break from the mainstream.

Great choices, but maybe swap BC2 with BlOps? Then again, the fast paced gameplay of CoD appeals to some people more than the slightly more tactical gameplay in BC2. BlOps is obviously more popular also.

A brilliant year for the Xbox 360 indeed. But also, a fantastic year for the Wii. Not all would agree, but some great games have come out for the Wii this year. Galaxy 2, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Other M, Kirby Epic Yarn AND Epic Mickey. Alot of great games there!

Xbox Live should be first for accessibility and amount of great features, but Steam should certainly take the 2nd place spot. The sales are absolutely mental. Which is a good thing :D

Hmm... wouldn't agree with this I'm afraid. Wii has a good year, so has 360. PS3 has had some brilliant exclusives too (GoW3, Heavy Rain), but not as many as the Wii or 360.

Yeah, definitely agree with these. Super Meat Boy I personally believe is pretty artistic, I love Edmund Mcmillen. Epic Mickey is a very artistic game also, the concept art is unbelievable.
