(NOT ADVERTISING) Does anyone else play this game? If you don't, here is what it is; It's near impossible hard, it takes a LOT of skill to beat, and there is one part that made UltraJman have a breakdown. Multiple times.

This Is where to download it, and again, i'm not advertising, just showing people the game, if they want to play it, and rage hard.

It is ok to make fun of America. But if you make fun of any other country in a vague or joking way you get banned.

Everybody sucks at that game. It's designed so that everybody sucks at it. You need frame-perfect timing and a foreknowledge of every trap in the game to be any good at it, and almost nobody has absolutely frame-perfect timing.

But eventually I'll have to play it. I said I'd try, if I could beat tanasinn in Owata.swf. Later that night I beat tanasinn in Owata.swf. So I should probably try it. Just not now.

I almost completed it a while ago, but it got deleted from my computer. I must have died thousands of times in the times I was playing it.

Really, it's not that hard once you've got the traps down. If you were to play it on very hard or impossible, THEN you'd have an excuse to rage. If you want a REALLY hard I wanna be the, check out any number of the fangames that have been made for it. THOSE are ridiculously hard.

Personally, I consider the game to be an overrated piece of shit that relies on fake difficulty. And its random death and fake difficulty are the only things it has going for it.

I wasn't aware it was aiming to be anything else.

One of the thing that made IWBTG hard for me was the fucking controls, they sucked ass.

Now, Super Meat Boy on the other hand has excellent controls, and a very nice challenge to it, so I'll stick to that.

I actually enjoy IWBTG, either for the music, bosses, ridiculous challenge or because I went completely insane trying to beat it the first time that hate and loathing has been replaced with warming affection. In all I find the game pure awesome sauce. I even cosplay as The Kid at conventions :P

So I've beaten IWBTG twice (on Hard), and I enjoyed it both times through. I have a lot of good things to say about the game actually. So many people seem to hate it and shrug it off as "an overrated piece of shit that relies on fake difficulty," but I disagree. If you think it's a piece of shit, you were probably playing it wrong. You came in with the wrong expectations. You don't understand the point of the game.

IWBTG is a metaphor for the past. Back in the day (well, perhaps Newgrounds is too young for this), when everyone owned a NES, and the internet wasn't nearly as big and broad as it is today, everyone knew The Guy. There was always ONE kid who could beat all of these insanely popular, yet insanely difficult games. And he was The Guy. Everyone wanted to be The Guy, but not many people could. When you're 8, Megaman 2 is close to impossible. You may never get to Dracula. You didn't have the time to beat Mother Brain. Honestly, becoming The Guy was nearly impossible.

Fast-forward to 2007, everyone from the age of the NES and SNES are adults. These games, which they've grown up with, aren't nearly as hard. They have the mental acuity to get through them, and they've had the time to do it. The game, "I Wanna Be The Guy" is about reliving those childhood moments of trying to become The Guy. Once again, you have to defeat Bowser, Wily, Birdo, Mother Brain, Dracula, and more to prove your gaming skills. The game is also insanely difficult to match exactly how you felt the first time you tried to beat those games as well. That's what IWBTG is about, and I think it is pretty cool.

But even if we ignore that, the game itself is very interesting. Every screen presents you with a new and unique puzzle. All of the areas have unique elements. Also, trying to predict what Kayin will throw at you next is fun, yet futile. Every time you think you have him figured out and you think you know what's coming next, Kayin manages to throw you a curveball and you end up having to restart at the beginning. The game is smart. Kayin, through playtesting, knows what you're going to think. He knows what you're going to expect. And he's set up the perfect trap to dash your expectations and send you back to the save point every time. However, the game isn't unfair. People claim that you need to make "frame perfect" jumps, but that's not true. Nothing is that strict. For a game whose major selling point is difficulty, it's rather lenient.

Anyways, I've rambled on long enough. I like the game. It's fun and well put together. Sure, a lot of memorization is involved, but that's part of it's appeal. Not everyone is going to like the game, but that doesn't make it bad. It's a very smart, well-put-together adventure that deserves the praise it's gotten.

Exactly. It aims to be a game based on 2 things that are hated by most gamers, yet it's so loved when it's based on such shit. Why?
