Dear Obama,

I realize you haven't been a normal American citizen, and you haven't lead a middle class life... ever. But people like free speech, boobs, and internet. If you take away Free Speech, boobs, and in any way restrict the internet, then you'll be assassinated all too soon. There are messed up people on the internet. When they learn that you took away their interwebs, they're going to kill you.

Sincerely, a "Not so fucked up" internet user.

A lot of people have pictures for their signatures. But that's stupid. I'm not going to do that. That is so 2008. Not even kidding. Jeez, you guys are stoopid.

You know what the beauty of the American system is? Laws can be appealed.

Look at don't ask don't tell. It has just been appealed.

The law won't last. The people have the final say, and if enough people are pissed off enough, shit will change.

I laugh at all of the anon comments in here. You hate anonymous until they can help you, then you love them? Hypocrites. Anonymous is dead. There's more 12 year olds in anonymous than here.

Essentially, this law allows the companies increase speed to certain sites that pay a premium. That's cool whatever, that doesn't affect you. What does affect you, and what I'm not sure if this law will allow, is that they limit the speed of connectivity to other websites that don't pay the fee, or are competitors to the ones who do pay the fee. I'm not sure if the law allows this, does anyone else know if it does?

God damnit.

Guy Fawkes isn't an anon mask, he is meant to symbolize some shit, not just 4Chan.

LOL trying to control the internet is impossible.

as long as the internet has hacks, pedofiles, porn sites, and other shit, the government has NO FUCKING control over how WE work the internet.

besides, i know obama wouldnt be ANYTHING without his man porn :)

Can't you see that these people don't WANT an explanation, they want to PANIC? They don't have TIME to actually LEARN what's happening to the law, they're far too busy screaming about how free speech is dead and how THE MAN has ruined the internet for the fiftieth time based on a skewed bitching of those who didn't get EXACTLY what they wanted and ergo got NOTHING that they wanted!

How can you take their inalienable right to be stupid away from them? What are you, a fascist?

The article does not give a lot of detail, but then again, I did not read it the whole way through. I bet that if there is really going to be true censorship on the Internet, Anonymous is going to protest it. I am not a fan of 4chan or anything, but the folks over at Encyclopedia Dramatica will do anything to make sure that their disgusting website can continue showing that stuff! If internet censorship does go through, then at least we won't have ED anymore.

I doubt the government would try something like that. The internet is bigger than the government, and with it shall not be fucked.

the bill passed, NUT it still has to be approved by congress, we can still win this, pledge and spread the word, if you don't want to give away your address type in a fake one, all it needs is that the ZIP code and your city match properly.
