Why does anyone HAVE to worship God, though? I seriously doubt the creator of the universe is going to have his plans unraveled by a few people who don't believe in him.

Yeah I go every now and then, not because my parents nag me to. I choose to go. I'm not strict about it though, a nice and chill sunday morning at home is fine with me too.

Yes, I do go to Church and probably do it a lot more frequently than most people here. In fact, anybody who has been following the thousands of reviews I have made over the years should know I am a religious person. I go to the United Methodist Church which is about half an hour (driving distance) from my home. It is pretty far away, but the church was originally closer when we lived in an apartment before we got our house built.

I went to church every Sunday as a child, then I stopped for a couple years before my mom had my sister and I going when I was in high school. Now I don't go anymore. Oh, it was a baptist church by the way.

I never go to any church.

I'm Gnostic, it's a very esoteric, personal philosophical religion like Buddhism, so their is no official "church" but their are some groups who get together to perform rituals.

but these rituals in themselves have no meaning, " a ritual is to a myth, as a play is to a book" A ritual is just a acted out myth, and the myth is just a symbolic, metaphoric story used to manifest wisdom.

Well, why not? You can believe that, if you may. However you think the universe is formed, if it makes sense to you, then it might as well be true.

We might just be brains in a jar, being fed images by a supercomputer. All in all, we only know what we see, what's out of range to it, might as well be anything. Your philosophy on that matter doesn't really do unjustice to human knowledge.

And that's a risk im willing to take ATHEISM FTW!!!

No seriously i could argue with you for years and until one of us die but im tired of that either face the fact that there is not such thing as god, only a morale conduct that differ from a society to another. But beside that understand that religion (all of them) were created by mankind and most of them use to control the weak and fearful by giving them a purpose to there lives.

So you choose , are you among the weak who can't bear the fact that there is no magical super being, that creationism is really a dumb theory, that even if you don't pray you can't be a respectable human being. Or continue to live in your lie and fear of a man created concept of heaven and hell. The choice is yours.

May the mighty god of the Valhalla grant you the wisdom to understand that really simple fact :P

I have very similar views when it comes to church-going. Jesus didn't go to church and he made it into heaven. Jesus also didn't ask his followers for money, nor did he tell his followers to ask other people for their money, yet churches today all ask for money.

I figure if I wanna talk to God, I'll just talk to him myself. Part of Jesus dying for our sins is that we have a direct connection with God now. Just a little prayer and you're on the line with the big guy, no need to pay a church to talk for me...

I had to go today though because it's the pastor's last christmas and it's the church my wife grew up in so it was important that we see his last big sermon... He's got oldskool views though and often implied that everyone not at church was a sinner and going to hell.. I have some qualms with those psalms.

I used to go to chruch when I was made to for some christmas thing or because my school was ridiculously christian, but then my mother couldnt be bothered to go herself so never took me anymore and I left the school so didn't need to anymore. Haven't been to a chruch survive since. I have been inside some since then thoughto see what they were like etc, more for the building than the activities inside.
Oh also i need to continually go into a small chapel at work as they can never be arsed to do the things that need doing in there.

Maybe you're like Trey Parker. He said he was not associated with any religion, but also said that atheism sounds more ludicrous than anything. He basically said, "There's something going on that we're not seeing, that's all I can say". Maybe you're like that.

I don't ever go due solely to the fact I work double shifts on Sundays.

Some will say: "Well you can go to the Saturday mass then!"

And I still work on Saturday nights. So either way I don't have time to go.
