So what fights can you just never beat no matter how many times you try?
Mine would be fighting the typhoon boss in FF6 that you have when you fight Ultros, when you meet him again in the monster arena. Without fail every single time he always did his kick character out of the battle move on me as soon as battle started and it is a 1v1 fight...I just gave up with that mini game due to him...

Penance in FFX. I've tried so hard a few times but due to bad timing I end up getting all three characters killed without auto-life replenish. Every time I die Penance must have a million HP or two left.

I'm still stuck at that shark boss in Super Mario RPG for the SNES. There's a gap between where I need to be and where I am. The one-on-one fight between Mario and the Shark always gets me killed.

It's not really a boss battle, but more of a battle of terrain.
In Burnout Revenge, there's this Rome-styled plaza that's a Crash Mode course. However, getting to the middle part of it, you have to do some crazy angle-drifting to get on these steps and launch yourself to it. I don't remember it too well other than the fact it was a beesh every time. Every. SINGLE. TIME.
The black rabite in seiken densetsu 3 (secret of mana 2) is a huge pain in the ass. (I need to dig out my modded snes and imported cartridge for that game also, I feel like playing it again.)
Cheating? I like to call it strategic opportunity.
The third evil ex in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Seriously, he and every other boss in that game seem to have an infinite amount of health.

Seriously, who of you have MK Shaolin Monks?? Man, the last 3 bosses were too damn hard!!! Shang Tsung and Kintaro were very easy, if you kept distance from them and attacked in the right moment, but Shao Kahn was simply a dick head. I think I had to play all those 3 fights at least 50 times. I always killed Kintaro and Shang Tsung w/out taking any damage, but Shao Kahn ALWAY, I say ALWAYS killed me, also, his life was as big as HELL!
When I finally finished that torture, the cd was scratched, and the final film plus the credits lasted about 2, 3 hours... I went outside to play soccer. :\

You at least need the Super Flare attack with Mario (the ability that lets you shoot the giant fireballs). Otherwise, chances are you're under-leveled for that fight. Took me a few times as well, its a pretty annoying fight.

Yeah, I have tried that but like I said, it's always bad timing for me. Oh well, I'll take him down one day whenever I'm up to it.
in UMK3 I could never beat Motaro no matter how hard I tried.
Sephiroth in KH2, I only beat him down to his last three life bars and he pulls some move that annihilates my health to a sliver before slicing me.

Hey, just out of curiosity how many hours did you put into that game save? I was actually thinking recently about starting a new FFX game and 100% it.

Technically not a fight in the traditional sense but for years I've never been able to beat those three bony bastards, which is a shame considering how awesome I am at the other parts of the game. Worst still, because of this I can't play the harder versions of my more favorite stages! Grrrr!

I found this the hardest boss in the series, mainly as it was the first just simply not being used to boss fights in that game, that damn spider scorpion thing really got me retrying a lot, so satisfying to finally kill it.
The good thing is I went back to that boss later after playing DMC2 and 3 and still got stuck again on it, brilliant boss.

I was never good at any of the Double Dragon & Battletoad boss fights.
This makes me think about Half Life2, in a way because that game has a shit load of bosses and you always think this shit is impossible, but its never too unbalanced.
on topic though... hm... ill think about this for a while. no i couldnt think of anything, expect ninja gaiden black. that game was fun, but far too difficult to actually enjoy
