I have all this $ but no sprites...

My team and I are in the finals for this programming/game making/thing contest called the Imagine Cup and we have a serious sprite deficit. In fact, we have no original sprites, the entire game is made up of mashed together sprites, and if you've ever made a stew, throwing random things you've found on the internet into the soup it begins to smell and taste a bit like ugly.

Just wondering if anyone wanted to make some sprites for us. I'll trade them for these bags of money I've got taking up space (be warned, their Ziploc bags so not all that much).. And you can snag a free ride to Microsoft's headquarters in Seattle with us in April if you have any desire to sabotage them from the inside. You'll also get a decent amount of love since we're required to get it up and going on the marketplace..

We don't care how old your are or if you have three heads.. Just make good sprites :D.

Side scroller I'm guessing? Pixel sprites or soft edges? How many sprites? How many tiles, and how many fully animated sprites? Thanks.

The view is from the side but the camera is stationary.

Soft edges definitely.

An indefinite number of sprites at the moment, the simple answer would be a whole lot, a more numeric one would be a couple hundred (an estimate). About half the sprites need to be animated, I think the hardest animations would probably be moving fish.

We need someone who can stay with us for awhile and make sprites as we need them.

Sounds good, that is the info we needed. I'm too busy, not a mod, and not super familiar with the forums outside of the art one. But I think there is also a collab thread/forum aound here somewhere, you might want to cross post there as well. Good luck finding a team mate!

Nope, we have a running prototype of this one though. We aren't some game company, we're just some student programmers who liked the sound of competing in a competition.

You don't need to be a games company to have previous work, say on a Flash game.

No problem. I've dabbled in games since I started programming (when I was just a wee tike) and know a good amount about it. he infrastructure that we've laid out for our game is very solid.
