Also, OP, this is something that will only be solved with the passing of time. You can't will yourself to get over someone, especially when they were not only a girlfriend, but also a close friend.
Your best bet is to just try and let this one go - plenty of other people in the world to be your friend. In time, she'll just be a distant memory.

I was just talking to one of my friends about this and that's what he said too. I don't want to forget her, but I guess nothing lasts forever. I told her best friend to tell her everything, that I still cared about her, that she's my best friend and that I still love her and that that's never going to change, that I miss her, and that I'll be looking forward to the day that she finally contacts me again... It's going to be tough without her. I never realized how much she meant to me until she was gone...

And a word of advice to everyone: If you ever find that one special person who you think you're going to be with forever, treat them well and be happy that you found that person. I was always a depressed loser when we were going out and I guess she just had enough and turned elsewhere... And never get mad at that person... no matter what, just be happy for them if they do find someone else. I lost my head and ended up losing my best friend like that...

Depending on your age there are different things to do. If youre young and in high school or something, try to date her friend and make her jealous. Nothing a girl hates more than that. And BE HAPPY. Nothing will make a girl want you back more than being happy again with someone else. It's hard as hell to pretend that though, it took me about a year to get over my ex. I self medicated with alcohol and pain killers for months straight not doing anything but fucking randoms and getting fucked up. I was a bit older though (22 or 23) it was a bad place and time for me but man... it did make me forget about her. And that is what I wanted, and I eventually met a new girl and I couldnt be happier. it gets better man, but it takes a while. Don't try to force it, just try to stay positive and keep friends around... being alone will make you go fucking insane. Good luck. PM me if you want sometime if you're feeling real down.
