First of all I'd say don't take pictures of youself trying to look gangsta, because you look like a tool.
As for your rap, well...
You talk about 'being in the club', shooting people and how life is tough. However you're on newgrounds asking for your rap to be critiqued and you look about 15 so I have a feeling that those things might be straying from the truth just a tad.
You seem to be obsessed with smoking weed as if you've just had your first joint and want to twitter all your friends to let them know.
'i gotta walk slow cuz my jeans still fallin,
n***as be drawlin,
pussy i be all in,
da n***a gone have to catch a rebound like spalding,
after the cross and jugglage of my balls and'
^ This paragraph sounds like you're homosexual with other men checking out you ass and 'juggling your balls'.
You say you're aiming at whoever with your P80, I assume you're going to take photos of them then because thats a Nikon Camera, and no relation to the P90 sub-machine gun.
There's a lot of stuff I decided to skip commneting on (believe me a lot) but my advice to you, would be, rap about your life, and how your life really is. Don't try to mimic the gangsta lifestyle rap which is obviously not your life because you just look like a poser. Raps poetry, and good delivery and meaningful matter will always be stronger than someone trying to look like they are the baddest person around by talking rubbish about sleeping with X number of girls and pretending they've shot X number of people, and making threats. The old saying rings true, 'keep it real'
Look, I'm not going to be mean, but the lyrics that you put up are part of the reason that Hip-Hop/Rap is under the fire it is today. People talking about being in clubs, partying all of the time, smoking, killing, and "banging bitches". I get that you want to share your creativity, and I'm all for that. I don't want to tell you to stop what you're doing keep doing it, but change your direction. You have a talent, use it to motivate people to do something better with themselves, speak about more positive things. And when you're writing a song, or even just a verse of lyrics, try to write the actual word, no matter how you say it, because sometimes people don't clearly understand what you are telling them. With that much said, I have to agree with Animate about this part:
we go from kush to haze,
we fuck and get paid,
n***as trip dat don't, get laid,
but fuck em anyway,
i gotta walk slow cuz my jeans still fallin,
n***as be drawlin,
pussy i be all in,
da n***a gone have to catch a rebound like spalding,
after the cross and jugglage of my balls and,
i'm mean to the beat im bully its retarded
I'll let you in on something I found out a long, pants sagging down to you ass, actually is something that started in the prison system. You know how people talk about dudes getting raped in jail, that does happen, more often than people would know. But there are others that are more willing to have it done. This was symbolized by "the bitch" pulling the back of his pants down just enough to so his crack. Then "the dude" would mount and have his way with him. Now, with everyone walking around with their pants hanging low, if underwear weren't invented, what do you think would be showing? I know people turned it into a trend, but for what purpose, just because they thought it was cool. I'm my own person, and will never follow the crowd, so break away from that mold. If you smoke, that's your thing, then let it be, but don't glorify it, it's not healthy, though weed for the most part is safer than cigarettes are, and I can stand neither. And calling women "bitches" or "hoes" or any other term that fits in, it's not right, no matter how you think it seems. Even if it fits the flow of your songs, you wouldn't want someone to say those things to any woman that you cared about.
I know what I'm saying is coming out like a lecture, and maybe it is one, but I have to do it or else I'm letting the chance to be insightful and truly help someone out slip passed me. When I have the chance, I'll post you some of my own lyrics up, songs that I'm planning on making, hopefully they will give you an example of better things to write about. Use your talent to stand out of the group, not to just be another mask for them to cover themselves with. you'll understand what I mean in a little while.
A person's life isn't measured by what they do, but by how hard they work for what they believe in.
Vampire Survival Story
This song that I'm posting here is one I wrote a little after what happened with Hurricane Katrina. Though I wasn't directly affected by the situation, seeing so many people displaced, and dead, it hurt me to my very core. Preventative measures that could have been taken to keep that situation from being as bad as it was, weren't. The pain of those people was exploited. Here are the lyrics.
Never More
Intro: Speaking without music
This song covers recent tragedies,
Things that could have been prevented but weren't,
And though some things said may offend,
Please listen to every word in this song.
(music starts to play)
Chorus:
I'm saying never more,
Never more to the pain,
And the hate we as people create. (oh)
Never more to the rain,
Clear away the clouds for a brighter day, (hey)
Never more to the hurt,
Giving hope to the youth with these loving words. (oh)
And we gonna do right,
Getting tired of struggling so we gonna fight.
Verse 1: Rapping
There's no point in Iraq anymore,
What are the troops still fighting for?
Why can't they come home from the war?
I doubt that they wanna battle anymore.
Their hearts and minds are so sore,
For the fact that their lives are not sure.
Not wanting any part in it no more,
Because they miss the people that they adore.
Honestly, this is how it is.
Even with what was done,
Iraq is no longer troops business.
So I asked myself,
Who is it that keeps them in this?
Throwing away youthful lives for oil business.
To these events, we all are witness,
Some stay blind cause they won't believe it.
Young people dieing for a lost cause,
Fighting on for nothing at all.
They already caught the bad man,
At the head man's call.
Chorus
Verse 2: Rapping
Look now, everything's messed up,
Things over here are now so screwed up.
Hurricane Katrina flooded New Orleans up,
And all the people there are wondering what was up.
National Guard wasn't around to guard,
They were out battling, gone afar,
Not there to protect where the helpless are,
Those who could afford it drove off in their cars,
And got away while the storm was still far off.
For the rest left behind,
There was no evac to save their lives.
Bodies buried underwater, lost for miles.
The Gulf Coast water became dirty and foul.
Where was the President?
On vacation, oh wow.
He left just days before,
The Gulf Coast was hit by this vicious storm.
Now the people from there have no homes.
Chorus
Verse 3: Rapping
Now, New Orleans is full of Black Water,
But it's not really water that's disrupted the order,
There are operatives, of a private order,
Sent down to head hunt those not drowned by water.
Lives being taken just cause someone don't care,
Sending in mercenaries to clear the air,
Because someone chose to put it outta their hair.
But now, the truth is out there,
And it's not gonna go anywhere.
We all now know our head man shouldn't be there.
They talk about rebuilding the city and the real estate,
But they don't wanna give back to whom from they take.
Rich people looking for those to manipulate,
Trying to steal everything that's at stake.
To the poor, they won't even give a break,
Taking away jobs and the money they could make.
Buying the land where their homes once stood,
Reforming New Orleans so there's no more hood.
Chorus
Verse 4: Rapping
These people suffered through the pain and the rain,
Plus the dirt and the hurt,
But they ain't gonna complain,
They gonna make things work.
They'll fight hard to maintain,
Cause they've got everything to gain,
So no matter what problems lurk,
They'll triumph through their work.
They want their homes back,
And that's what they intend to get jack.
But these politicians got lies by the stack,
The real people that suffer are the poor and the black.
Population control is what it's all about,
That's why they let all those levies flood out.
But truly the people know what survival is about,
Breaking into stores, carrying necessities out.
The public being told lies of those people looting,
It's all of their lives that the government ruined.
They needed water and food but the cops wasn't doing,
Anything because they got fed, eating and chewing,
For what these people suffered, they should be suing.
Chorus
Verse 5: Rapping
Now, this verse is about,
What I see, what I feel, and what I had to get out,
I had to tell you on the real what they wouldn't let out.
If anything that I said isn't true,
Then come back and tell me what you know to be the truth,
And make sure that you bring it with a whole lotta proof.
Otherwise, the proof is in the pudding,
Mr. Prez could've helped, but he wouldn't,
Forget any of this, the nation shouldn't.
The news everyday says the same thing,
Donate your money to the Cross, when they not doing a thing.
Not giving the food or the money they claimed,
That these people would have today,
So that the people can get the benefits to their name.
To show you the truth, that is my aim,
We need to get serious, this is not a game,
The government should suffer for the tragedy that came,
Because none of these people can return to their lives the same.
Chorus 2x out
I still to this day have the song in my head, and the way it would play out, but this is my point, talk about world issues, talk about your life, talk about stuff that is meaningful. Don't just go on about something that carries so many negative things with it. If your songs come from your heart, then you're doing your music a great deal of justice, not just falling in line with the current trend.
A person's life isn't measured by what they do, but by how hard they work for what they believe in.

You know, i'd take this reply alot better if you weren't being a dick.
They're just raps dude.
Chill out.
Yes I smoke.
No I don't have a twitter.
Anybody who knows anything about shooting games knows what a P90 is
You were actually correct on the camera thing
It mean that she was modeling for me
It wasn't me "trying to look gansta"
My friend, I know gangsters
Definitely not a gangsta pic with the way it looks
If you wanna be a Jew, do it somewhere else man
Constructive criticism is one thing
Not having respect for someone else work is another

Most thing i've talked about in here are true
You don't know me or my life so can it
Just because I'm on newgrounds doesn't mean I don't have a life beyond it
I happen to have been with newgrounds since the 90's on a different account
I really just can't stand remarks like that

To SSJDre
You seem quite educated
Yes the jean thing started in jail
But alot of dudes in the hood wear them like this for a number of reasons
One, it's impossible to trap with skinny jeans
You'd have no place to conceal you weapons, drugs, ect.
But really it's to pay homage to the dudes that got locked down in the first place
Not the pussies that got raped in there
But you wouldn't want to walk around in a jump suit all day
Some people run gangs for their people locked down, some kill, some where there jeans low
Never been in a gang myself but ride with a few gang members
What happens in the street is what's important though
Think about it
If all some people know are the streets
then what will they teach their offspring
And those to follow them
I rap about the streets
Only to bring awareness to it
It's nice to read a style of rap that's different of mine
Like i said
you seem pretty educated
I'll be posting some more of my raps in a few
Some may vary
I do have the highly metaphorical ones
When all else fails, pull out your Dragon Flute.
A recent one I had wrote about a week ago for someone who heard me rappin outside of class and made the same type of remarks that Animate did. The last part brought it all together cuz he was inside the classroom listening through the door but it had another meaning to it as well.
For those who wanna know what a gangsta be
I be a gangsta be
But that aint all there is to me
An athlete who really loves to compete
A writer on the side but I mainly make beats
I stay true to the game even though my life changed up
Had to calm down alot since my boy got snuffed
It was enough to make a n***a wanna give up
What kept him goin was not tryna end up bein stuck
Doin the same old shit
Movin the same old brick
On the same old strip
Loadin the same old clip
I guess you can say that my age made it to me
Life is a bitch and I know karma gone screw me
Until then ya n***a just gotta keep goin
Keep the beats jumpin and the verses steady flowin
hip hop made me a better me and kept me alive
you n***as listen from the door tryna get inside
When all else fails, pull out your Dragon Flute.

Anyone living that lifestyle who doesn't work to educate and move their children away from that shouldn't have children in the first place. You seem to think that lifestyle is cool. It isn't.

Thank you for what you said, but look, either way, the way you presented it, is glorifying it. The reason people did what they did back then is because they felt they had no options. In the world today, no matter who you are or where you come from, you've got thousands of options, even if they don't look like they are there.
Bringing awareness to the situation is fine, but don't make it sound like it's just a fun ride on a rollercoaster. There are people who easily become influenced by any and everything. Even if you may not want people to jump and do what you do, the way you present it could possibly may them take it up. I myself haven't been in a gang either, I've got friends that are, and I've seen the stuff that they've gone through. I know myself that they wouldn't speak or rap about the way that yours was presented. Through them, I learned about so many things, so many hardships that I'm glad I didn't have to go through, or attempt to go through. Being that you aren't in a gang, you don't have to live that way. And I said nothing of wearing tight jeans, you can wear baggy jeans that don't fall off your ass, that's why people wear belts. And then you can still conceal any weapons you have, though I honestly don't think people should be running around toting guns anyway.
I know life in rough neighborhoods is tough, I lived in some tough places myself, but it's never an excuse to allow the lifestyle that people have fallen into become something to be. I wish that I could rid every neighborhood of every weapon that kills a teen or a child. People firing back and forth at each other, missing and hitting other people. Or someone hating another person just because they don't wear the same clothes, or hang with the same people. It breaks my heart to have to hear about things like that, especially when it's my own people doing it to themselves. Then again, everybody's getting into it now, no matter what the race, so I guess that last statement doesn't even apply anymore. I implore you to push for your cause, but just choose different words, say it in a way that makes people want to help the situation rather than turn their backs to it and make their hearts cold.
And honestly, it's not my schooling that has made me who I am, it's the books and things that I read on my own, the history that I studied outside of what I was taught in school, as well as my personal life experiences that molded me. I'm probably no more educated than any other person, I just choose to use what I know in a different manner than most, which is what sets me apart. I'm not asking you to be anything like me, just don't allow yourself to slip through the cracks. Be a leader, don't follow the crowd, no matter how you think it'll make you look in the long run.
I feel like I'm giving a speech to an auditorium of students, I think I'm done for now, unless I think of something else.

Alright, I'm going to correct you on one thing, the life you live isn't something that is forced on you from birth. Like I said in my last post, there are always choices, the main problem being is that most of the good things a school could do for kids has been stripped away, leaving kids to figure out what to do with themselves, and half the time, it doesn't come out good. The pressure gets to people, making the best choice unclear, so they pick what they feel is the best choice that they can see. Digging deeper and looking farther help people get out of those situations. If only more people who make it out went back and helped the people that they left behind, then communities would have unity again, and places could be peaceful like they used to be.

See, I'm glad you get where I'm coming from.
I'll tell you now that I'm a CST(Computer Service Technician) by trade.
Times is still rough and I had to realise it was nothing in the streets for me before I could even begin to make that change. You're right, the schools do need to step it up. It's hard enough with the education, that's why we need to keep people off of the streets. I never meant to glorify it, just some old raps of mine. I've made quite a transformation, even though I still live in what's essentially the hood, I have a nice job and I'm still in school now. Most kids coming up will have less and less of a window of opportunity, people should know what people like me went through and what people are going through right now. It may seem like a carnival ride but that's the end product of all the ugly work that's done. At the end of the day, no matter what point in life I was at, I'd rap. I dislike the mainstream for the sole reason that they know how hard it is but do nothing to make it better for those in their shoes. Then release tracks that promote the same thing. Like I said in my first post, these are just some raps and I some feed back and raps would be cool. Mainstream gets paid to put the poison in the air though. It's truly sad.
When all else fails, pull out your Dragon Flute.

Then I guess we see the same things in the world, maybe it was just the rap itself, that kind of threw me. see, those things you probably should have said in the first post, just to clear the air and let people know what you're about. I kind of gave me the view point of it coming out as that's what you're about, and for the life of me, I can't stand that way of thinking. I've heard and seen so much bull that I instantly react to anything close to it, or what appears to be close to it. But I've also in my life, take the time to get to know the situation fully, before trying to make a judgment. If that's old, how old is it? Like I said, mine was from back when Hurricane Katrina hit, which was about 4 years ago.
You just relieved me of a horrible headache. I really thought that I was trying to convince you to save yourself from falling into a pit, but I see now, I was wrong. You did do the one thing that most wouldn't have, and that was stay respectful to my responses. But you know, if you redid that old rap, you could still say what needs to be said, and make it a positive message, just being as it is, it pulls the wrong attention to the subject.

Hmmm this was a big back in forth lecture, but I'll say it was kinda cool. For the raps, yeah it was pretty "I'm a tough G who rapes and kills." even though I know your not aiming in that direciton. And that picture of u infront of the house made me think of Tupac lol. I write raps also, i live damn near close to a hood, city limits of rochester, the news is always some rape or murder nearly everyday. I hear it on the TV, I hear the sirens, I hear the stories, I know some pople in it, I've seen some kids get arrested. I see the kis in my school who are black and, oh god, it's fuckin bad. "I live in the hood n****, you is some dumb cracker." They think their better than everyone else cuz they're hood posers, and if I hear one more "cracker" remark, oh god, I'm gonna fuckin scream. Public middle school = ghetto hell.

I liked it, at least as far as I could ever possibly like rap -- sorry, but rap isn't my favorite genre of music, so I can't critique it in the same way I can other things. From what I can tell, rap isn't about grammatical and semantic consistency, it's about flow, which in my interpretation is somewhat like . And I'm not going to criticize it for glorifying sex and drugs: after all, it's up to everyone to decide what they want and what their preferences are.
Hedonism is living in the moment -- and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I pretty much agree with this, but the life you live is imposed upon you from birth. It influences the way you act, think, and feel -- it is up to you to change that for yourself. But you do have choices and you can decide to get out of that environment, but your experiences therein do define you as a person, whether or not that's good or bad.

Mainstream gets paid to put the poison in the air though.
It's not just the schools that are lacking, it's American culture in general. The entire consumer society is one that is designed to give us illusions of fulfillment, liberation, happiness, etc. It's parasitic.

Correction: From what I can tell, rap isn't about grammatical and semantic consistency, it's about flow, which in my interpretation is somewhat like form, meter, and rhythm in classical poetry, but operating in an entirely different context.

For the most part, it is. The sad thing is though, lots of popular rappers don't use the intelligence that they have to improve the quality of there music, they just do the some stuff that everyone else is doing. Rappers like Rakim, KRS One, Will.I.Am of Black Eyed Peas, Eminem, Lupe Fiasco, B.O.B., Common, Mos Def, Outkast......I better stop now before this just turns into a list, these rappers throw in intellectual phrases and words that most won't or are too afraid to. They didn't always have the best raps out there, but the things they say stir your mind, one way of another, and they are generally the most realistic rappers there are. They don't stick with a gimmick, and don't use a ploy to get people to listen to them, they just get out there and put their flow together, 9 times out of 10, sounding really good. To me, the music is just as much the words as it is the melody, rhythm and beat. Together those four things create a feeling, and that feeling is then transmitted to however many people that they can get it to. Depending upon the person to listen to it, that feeling can be interpreted many ways, but for the most part, solid lyrics will help people understand what it's meant to be.
