Goldeneye on n64.
I owned a ps1 rather than an n64 at the time. The only fps game I had played was Medal of Honor, and I hadn't even heard of Goldeneye. I had Metal Gear Solid so I can't complain too much but lately I have been hearing a lot about how Goldeneye was so awesome, how they would rather play it than MW2 and so on. I am hearing this from people I know, not just random people on the internet.
Does anyone else feel they have missed out on a vital peace of gaming history?

Yep. My parents are very anti-world war 2 so I missed out on the early COD games. Back then it was a big deal, but being able to play them now I regret getting mad over my parents for them.

I don't think that I've missed out much when it comes to playing video games though to be honest I've never played Final Fantasy 12 , when I saw the trailers for the game It looked it work a throwback to some of older titles. Though I have to say that the moogles look a little more anthropomorphic and not so much like they're older counterparts , Have they somehow evolved?

I missed out Goldeneye when I got an N64 back in 1998. My dad bought it for me, but took it back since it was too violent. They told me it was "broken". The pisser? I believed that part until I was 16.
But yeah. First FPS would be Halo 3 for me. Yeah. Long wait for a genre.

Goldeneye is a pretty badly-aged game. If you play it on the N64 today, it's shit. It's not even comparable to anything today. It was really good when it was first released, though.
If you have a Wii, buy the new Wii-version, if you really want it.

I heard though that it had some of the best multiplayer ever though.

I played the original GoldenEye a lot back when I was really little, up until my brother sold his copy of it (which was actually a pretty long time after he got a GameCube, so there's some staying power there, at least).
Rebought it off of Amazon back in November, and played some with my brother again, just like old times. It's still good, especially if you enjoy N64 FPS's, but it's a pale shadow of it's former self. I'd actually much rather play the Wii version nowadays, even though - when adjusted for age - it's probably not as great or as classic of a game.

Meh, I've found it's overblown nostalgia, mostly.
Just like the Legend of Zelda games for the N64. They were great games, but hardly as great as people seem to think. I really haven't found that great a game that deserves praise like certain games from the past do.
Klobb-only matches were the most fun I'd had in that game.

I realise my use of the comma is pretentious as fuck, but it's habit.

Perhaps I'm into that.
But yes, I never found them that great. They were fun though.
Fuck everything about that ice castle thing in MM. I always sucked at the goron roll, just to get to it.

I nearly missed out on it, since when I was growing up, my mum didn't approve of me playing FPS's. But that's what friends are for, right? ;) As I got older, though, she at least let me rent it.
When all else fails, blame the casuals!

Never played it, don't care. Not that big of an FPS fan anyway.

I only played it until I got Zelda, and even then I only played that until I got Bomberman Hero. Play that. It's good.
Here's my Dtoid account. And my Urban Terror ID is BenelliM4-Medic. And I know Travis Touchdown isn't a Capcom character, but I put him in anyway.
