Foreigners trying to woo our women

An event that occurred yesterday. My wife wanted to get some fresh air and went to the nightshop for some cola and a treat. I know she manages on her own and so i let her go alone. On her way to the store some car pulled over and a person walked towards her, clearly of foreign nature (according to my wife) and told her in thick foreign accent he thought she was beautiful. My wife told him she was married and had a baby, so the guy did walk off.

But seriously, who thinks it's a great idea of courtship to pull over along the road and tell some random woman she is beautiful? It's rather creepy. Along the road, it's not really a location for courtship and a woman on her own being approached by a stranger in a car, it's pretty creepy. Not to be racist, but add to this that the person barely has a grasp at the prevalent language and is a few years older than the woman (my wife estimated the guy at 30/40-ish). If I were a woman, I'd never go with him.

But my wife isn't the only case. My elder sister in law was approached by a black person a while ago, who even nearly proposed to her on the spot and my younger sister in law was approached b a guy of foreign origin who handed her his phone number out of the blue.

Albeit this thread might seem contaminated with traces of racism, native men usually are sensible enough to meet the girl at common locations or in bars and aim to apply more subtle strategies of seduction. But foreign people just seem to have this idea that walking up to a woman and aking her to marry him will get their panties wet in no time.

What's your take on this?

Maybe the guy thought she was a prostitute. And I think that you are bordering racism with these generalizations, assuming that just because on two occasions 'foreign people' hit on people you know, all foreigners are 'trying to woo our [/your] women'.

Its likely that you, or the people telling you these stories are already slightly prejudiced and therefore scrutinize the 'foreigners' more than you would other people, therefore make different judgements towards them than you would for non-'foreigners' doing the same things.

The weird and scary (albeit racist) part is that a survey once showed that foreigners (those from arabic or more southern regions) prefer to have a girlfriend who's more a traditional, obedient wife. I hope those people who marry one of our women treat them like we would and don't expect total obedience/traditional behaviour of theirs too.

Fixed. I'm pretty sure this is exactly a case of that - where in a foreign country a middle-aged guy can fully expect to pull over, compliment a gal on her beauty, and expect a long, flirty talk about such things or whatever.

Pretty weird though, to expect any woman walking around along the street, not soliciting or wearing lewd clothes, to be a prostitute, especially when there's no other prostitution going on there ever. Besides, with a prostitute you ask how much it costs, not say how they're beautiful.

Without generalisations thoughts on life would be boring.
Experiments would be dismissed cause even if they work 500 times, it proves nothing because it can very well be they only work at those few times.

Actually, no. Person tries to flirt them up randomly, he has clearly foreign ethnicity. Political correctness doesn't alter the facts.

Maybe it's simply a culture issue. Maybe it's normal in his home country to go up to random women, idk.

Well yeah, that's why I am not really angry or so, slightly amused is the way I feel about this.

As far as relationships and culture go, I was working in a hospital 3 years ago as a vacation work (temporary) cleaning the rooms of patients.
This woman who seemed from Middle eastern origin asked me about being married and having kids (which at that point was still something of the future, in particular since I was older than the other students). It was a pleasant conversation, but somehow I thought it was a bit odd that she assumed I had a few kids already.

i figure the tradition down there is to marry and breed young, whereas in the 'western world' people tend to procrastinate the serious relationships with kids and marriage and so on.
