It's a pretty decent review for parents who want to know if this Newgrounds is safe for their kids. Quite frankly they hit the nail on the head pretty solidly. There are some genuinely great works, and there's a good community to help someone learn flash or refine their art, but since anyone can submit anything and content moderation is at a minimum there are a lot of things that no child (and most adults) probably won't want to see.

Their 17+ rating is so off the mark.

They got it right, which is rare. I'm impressed. I remember in the papers, after the sirtom incident, they referred to us as a social networking site. The media sucks at figuring out what we are. But these guys did it pretty well, and gave parents a good amount of unbiased information to help them decide whether or not to let their kids go on here.

Yeah like others are saying, that was a very fair and accurate review. Most of the time we just get ripped apart.

They rated it iffy for a 17+ year old. I may be one of the few who does not agree with this, I say the site is fine for people over the age of 13 just like Tom disclaimed and intended.
17 years old... seriously?

I think when your child hits age 13 you should no longer censor or restrict anything that they watch, listen to, or read (except for pornography which Is pretty understandable.)
And their rating isn't just 'okay for 17+' it's iffy for 17 year olds. You might want to be careful about sending your 17 year olds to this site parents, they could pick up some swear words.

I don't trust that any of those "kids" are actually kids.
This site eerily reminds me of places like Circlist and Christian Spanking Blogs, which masquerade as legitimate information sites but are actually a clever front for fetishist pornography. I'll bet you a million dollars that those "kids" they use for reviews are actually 40-something men or women.

All this shit about security as a concern, this is the one site I trust to be safe. That site probably has more viruses than a prostitute.

These days seven year olds can stand the violent flashes on here. I was playing some gory game called mutation I think , and none of the violence and gore phased the seven year old girl watching. This sites okay for kids as long as they have responsible parents. And I don't even think you can get to the mature section without already knowing about it.

I'd say 13 would be a better age but the whole mature section(which really gets boring after 2 minutes) bumped it up.
