When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

If Japan hasn't forgotten about the Hiroshima bombings in WWII, then it won't be for a long time before we "forget" about 9/11.

It was a tragic loss of thousands of people that ended with thousands of families shattered by a couple of Allah-fearing extremist. It was such a senseless loss and I doubt that it will be forgotten in the next 100 years. We still remember Pearl Harbor, and we should still remember 9/11.

Excluding the little detail that roughtly 100 times more civilians died in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki compared to 9/11? Yeah.

The thing about 9/11 is that it's not just the loss of the 3000 some odd people that died during the attack. You also have to take into consideration that the attack sparked two wars and an entire political movement. Not only did it lead the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, but it also resulted in drastic changes to our politics, foreign policy and to our legislation. Regardless of whether 9/11 should be lamented further, it certainly shouldn't be forgotten because any way you look at it, it is a significant event in modern US and world history that led to the shaping of the US's diplomatic position and its image in international politics.

If you want us to forget about 9/11 then don't talk about it.
