I really can't understand why anyone would risk all that either considering The Combine FEED YOU FOR CHRISTS SAKE. THEY FEED YOU WHEN THEY COULD HAVE JUST BLOWN THE PLANET UP AFTER HARVESTING THE OCEANS. If that's not benevolent i don't know what is.

Well, to be fair, there's an awful lot of malevolence you have to put up with. The food is about as edible as newspaper, they put memory-wiping chemicals in the drinking water, and random beatings / "vanishings" from the Civil Protection Units aren't unheard of. They only way to presumably get access to better living conditions is to join Civil Protection, which, while different from the Combine army in that there's no actual surgery or brainwashing involved; is probably full of corruption, reeducation, and institutionalized violence anyways.

It's the opposite. If you join the combine, they make a CP or soldier out of you. If you go resistance and get caught, they make stalker out of you.

Well, I was assuming since your not the alien species combine soilders are (or are they human? they do speak english) they wouldnt allow you into their army and instead use you as a stalker.

I dont think they every explain in half life if the combine soilders are human, idk i only really paid attention to the story of EP2. Im currently replaying HL2 so maybe ill find out.

Thats interesting, Half-Life 2 is such a great game. I hope they do a HD remake with current source graphics and technology of numba 1 for the 360(id even buy a ps3 to play it if they release it exclusive to that) iv always wanted to play it
