3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsTitle is self explanotary, my cat who is 3 years old is refusing to eat and this has been going on for about a week she is starving herself to death yet the vet says physically she is sound. She has lost weight dramatically and now weighs 2.5kg and is skin and bones she is also reluctant to drink I had to force some water down her earlier just to keep her alive, I tried it with food but couldn't manage it. I could understand if she was ill but there is no treatment for a "well" cat I cant have her suffer she may need to be put down, newgrounds have you had similar pet issues like this on the off chance, I don't understand what is wrong :(
The above post may or may not be relevant.
Let the cat outside. Instincts will ensue.
You should go to a different, more competent veterinarian. No intelligent one will tell you that this is normal. I hope you can get your cat to get better and eat and drink more.

She wants to die. Let her go under the porch, and let nature take over.
Your vet is incompatant and sounds like he/she really doesn't care about the animals they're supposed to diagnose and help.
Also they have to be eating something. A human cannot survive six days without food, and I believe a cats metabolism is even quicker so they would die in less time than that if they weren't eating.
does she have a yellow-ish tint in the inside of her ears?

If your trying to troll me and get me to scream at you it's not happening buddy, I know your just a jackass who's bored thus attempts to troll. Though what you said about "letting her go under the porch" well.. she isn't fucking moving she's so weak and just lays about whilst she was quite active thus I'm worried she's on her last legs and is quite upsetting
That's unusual at three years.
I've had a couple of sick cats, one was dying of cancer, the other had a upper respiratory issue for a month, and refused to eat.
First, I tried canned tuna, and cooked chicken breasts- if your cat likes these, it might go for it.
The second cat absolutely refused to eat or drink. I went to the vet, and got a bag of Ringers Lactate IV fluids, the IV tubing, and a can of needles. Twice a day, you can insert the needle under the skin of the scruff of the neck (vet can show you) and give the cat a little bit of fluid. It'll make a big bubble, and is a little alarming at first, but it really helps.
Best of luck... and really this is the worst place you could ask for good advice. :( I would suggest a new vet
Yes, a few years back my cat had the same problem she wouldn't eat or drink and she was losing weight at an expedientially alarming rate, and after taking her to the vet it seemed at first it was a problem involving stress, but this wasn't the case. Because after a week with the vet it seemed she had developed a form of cancer and the only chocies were to keep her on live support or to put her down which I had chosed to keep her from suffering. In my opinion I would take your cat to the vet once more and try to keep her over there to see if they can do anything, and make sure to spend some time with her if the worse happens. I really hope this is not the case and I really hope your cat will be alright, so be sure to hang in their and be strong.

Done and done, ham was a favourite not even looking at it, I've tried cooking it all as I've looked around and apparently that makes them go for it.. no luck. And yeah I knew I'd get more than a handful of posts but ya'know it's newgrounds. And @catcat she's an indoor one.

Although this does seem mean, it is the truth. When animals are about to die, they usually stop eating and try to go someplace by themselves.
I know lots of people who said that they're cat/dog stopped eating. The next thing they know the pet is under the bed/porch/couch dead. Animals like to be alone when they die.
Find a vet who got their degree from at least a name brand cereal box, and get their opinion. If it is just sick, see if it gets better. If this continues, let it outside, but watch where it goes. If it is going to die but isn't in immense pain, don't put it down. Let it pass on it's own terms.
Well, take it to the vet and see if they will give you the supplies for the injection I mentioned above.
If you lived close to me, I'd come over and do it for you. :-/
Take her back to the vet & explain again, she's starving. This is pretty odd for a young cat. Good luck.

Water. We can't survive that long without water. It's like a month or so without food.

Whoa, use some more commas and periods in your words. You are making my head spin.
Oh yeah, I suggest that you take your cat to a more highly-trained vet. This cause of refusal to eat can happen many times. It could be a virus, pain in the stomach, an item inside the digestive system, whatever!

It's three days for water, I know that for a fact... might be three weeks for food now that you mention it. But I know that natural predators have faster metabolism and starve quicker. Also smaller animals although they require less food given there mass they still have a faster metabolism given that there heart rates and breathing is quicker than larger animals... there for it burns more energy.
But i ain't no scientist, I'm just making uneducated guessing as always.
Well another trip to the vet was always on the cards I'll ask for a blood test or something, it'll need injections just to get some fluids into it, poor thing.

Hang in their, you'll get through this.
Force feed her on cat milk with vitamins in it or something?
now officially squidified!!!
Nothing close to "healthy animal refuses to eat," no. Just dogs close to death, sadly. Try gentle persuasion? Otherwise I'm not sure.

That's what's happening to my cat right now, her liver's failing or something.
This probably won't help... but yesterday I got my cat to eat some hard salami, maybe you should try that?
The redesign happened, now my signature doesn't match anymore.

Sad to say, but i'm hideously serious. Cats, dogs, basically any 4 legged mammal does that at the end of it's life. Whether it's after 3 years or 13 years. Happened to me when I was 8, cried for like 2 days. Might as well come to terms with it.
I hope this isn't a lie.
Anyway, I give you the best of luck with your cat, mate. Hope you don't have to have her put down.
No, seriously. Take it back to the vet. Even if you can't solve the eating problem, a regular injection of glaucous would keep her alive. Do it.

Yes, that's the most likely culprit.
Upon reading the title I suspected the cat was pregnant and about to give birth, but it looks like that is not the case.
