Thanks mates!

The work so far has been pretty straight forward, just blocking in shapes and playing with colors.
Here is something more refined with more detail -- Elves of Ragnarok!

Yes. You can see them at the top of the page.
I do new work everyday except for Sunday.
Some specific client work is under NDA till the time the publisher releases it.

I will be releasing some artwork from an upcoming flash game - Galiard's Last Stand so stay tuned for that.

PRINCESS
She's betrothed to the Knight. She's moderately spoiled, but with a glint of intelligence and a helping of heart. Blond hair, blue eyes, pink dress, etc.

Dude, that looks fuckin' cool. :D If I may ask, what kind of brushes do you normally use when doing paintings like this?

Anyway, keep up the excellent work, I'm a fan.

@ Rhunyc

95% of the time its just 3 brushes - one for solid lines, one for blending, one for edging.
I don't mess with jitter or feather or anything but opacity.

I see I see, well thanks for responding! :) It's nice to see you don't use some crazy alien sort of brush that you made yourself or downloaded xD Kind of gives me hope that it's alright to use the tools that come with the program.. Because normally people always say they use some custom brush and it's like "Ohh... I guess maybe I should try doing that sometime if I want my stuff to look better.."

I've heard the whole custom brush thing myself and figured its largely hogwash -- traditional painters use a few brushes and have been pulling off amazing stuff for over 5000 years.

The biggest help any illustrator can get is learning how to draw before painting. I've seen alot of portfolios where the person tries to fix the line art in the painting stage -- its just building a house on sandy ground.

Here is a sample of how I normally paint -- a sketch that has tonal values, then a paintover. By the time I get to the painting stage its a like painting by numbers because the sketch already works.

Also, another handy pointer. Sadly though I think I'm building on sandy ground with a picture I've been working on lately.. >< I'll have to practice more straight-on sketching. I've just witnessed so many people speed painting and thinking "oh that looks cool, lets try it".. And now I'm hooked, so that's all I've been doing, and I try to turn the speed paints into fuller more finished works.

Thanks for showin this though, it's wonderful advice.

Your art makes me wonder if my code will live up.

*laughs* Can you imagine if I lacked that much self-confidence? *shudder*

Ego aside, the GLS project is damn lucky to have you.

That is a very interesting looking instrument. May I ask what it is called?

Also, your artwork is very cool. I like how you went step-by-step with the princess, and showed us the underwork for your skeleton. I don't know about anyone else here, but I learned a lot. :) Thanks!
