4.18 / 5.00 15,630 ViewsOK you NG animators, I know this isn't anything new but I want to start an animation practice thread. Just post your practices, even if they're unfinished. I'll start it off...
For this one I was playing around with masking and animation with an animation and only using the shadows for the character...Let me know what you think and POST YOUR PRACTICE ANIMATIONS! Don't let me down!
that's nice and different
here is some stuff of mine

I'll try to keep this thread alive but ill need your help guys, I want to see what you guys come up with and remember its practice it doesn't have to be perfect...unless you want perfection but that's a different topic sooooo keep up the awesome work guys ;D
great stuff fellows
I like this type of thing... get some nice roughs in there

I want to get into animating for newgrounds but I think I should work on practicing animating different things and cycles first.

Nice one Crav. i can see a few things being worked out there
The best way is just to try and make stuff I find... that way
problems present themselves and are solved.
Bravo everyone... MORE!!!
nice work folks
heres a 3d practice to test flash potential for making 3d objects
result: FAIL

I guess that is trying to harness the strange power of shape tweens
I have been there more times than I care to consider... the fault is with
flash itself I reckon. Certainly pioneering spirit cannot be blamed.
Here is another of mine... INFLATO SHOES!!!!

Haha awesome work guys. I was going to have something up earlier but there were some problems with my tablet. I got it sorted out tho so here is some more practice, I don't like this one to much, I feel it needs more BOOM you know? Maybe with some sounds it would be better IDK I should be able to convey the power with out sound. Maybe if the camera shakes? Gouki
PS.: I know Akuma is more beefier, it wasn't originally going to be him I just love those beads :)
im liking this practice threads, u know what they say, practice make perfect

Thanks yeah just looking through tutorials have helped quite a bit. Theses inks have helped me along the way http://animation101.newgrounds.com/

yowzer, real 3D??!!!! Well I never...
cope2K- i think that is great... for further dynamism (is that a word) i think
the secondry action (or whatever it's called) could have some movement it it
As it is right now i think it looks great anyway
great stuff all around guys
these are all awesome practice links. I particularly like the masking technique on your first link Mick. Thats an interesting approach. It really feels like an animation made with prismacolor markers or something. Will post something of mine up soon. I have to get on my home pc. this is just a lowly netbook.

AH-HA! that's it! Man I should have thought of that, I totally see it now, oh well :\ I'll post some more soon as I get them done. Again, great work guys!
Hello everyone! I am new here in newgrounds, and I am applying to Russian State University of Cinematography named after S. Gerasimov, and am practicing flash. I am not professional, but I am very eager to try it, as I have had not much experience with it.
Here is my practice
I'm very rough around the edges. only my third or fourth animation.
clicky
Tried something a bit more complicated trying to animate a rotating human head
I'll try and get this one finished and polished up soon as I am able

OMG, everything (or most of them) are GREAT!!!, I'll upload mine as soon as i finish it!
He's right behind you... And he's got donuts :3
Here it's mine... See, i'm not very good at animating, plus, i don't have a Graphics Tablet, anyways, i hope you can share some techniques with me...
Hope yu enjoythis
He's right behind you... And he's got donuts :3
oscar that is perfect
The whole point of animation practice is to nail movement and here I see
that you have a grasp of the real deal. Too many folks get to the
'I have a character, his name is Ted, he has a gun, he likes wine and horses
and is trying to over throw an evil wizard' before they have any feel for the
entertainment of movement... sorry if I am over analytical here but I much
prefer your splat than some shit drawings of gun shot cyber stick men.
more I say
Did you really liked it?? I think it's really crappy >.<
I prefer the other ones (lol) Anyways, thanks
He's right behind you... And he's got donuts :3
It is in the right direction
As I say, people come along and make a whole film in their head then they try
one shit animation, then go play tennis... animation is a series of movements
same as anything.
I made this one a while ago to test the atmosphere (rudimentary) of the blobby
item, as with your own, and the simple flicker of light on water. It is achieveable
to make elements that read without the whole fluff of what is expected... in fact
the subtler the better in many cases
