Gunpowder. So very versatile. Easy to make. Stick a medium sized charge into a box of nails, and no one walks out of a room without at least serious injury.

Well I can't see how guns are pansy shit because it still takes practice to be good with a gun.
Out of the Gun category I'd have to say my favorite would be the Remington R-25 semi-automatic hunting platform. Thing of beauty.
Out of Melee weapons you have to consider range because no one weapon is good for all attacks.
Medium range would be like spears and halberds but my Choice is always going to be the Scottish Claymore.
Close range would go to a one and a half hand sword or a viking sword
Hand to hand CQ I've always been fond of the Gurhka Kukri.
I would say pocket knife/switchblade, since its the only type of weapon that I own and its the only weapon that I'm ever likely to use in self defense. I've always wanted to own a sword (more specifically, a katana) and by that I mean a real one that's at least a couple hundred years old. I don't ever see myself actually using one though, so it would pretty much be a cool wall decoration.
For guns, I want to buy an FN Five-seven when I'm older. Its a small handgun that's easy to handle, yet powerful and with a twenty round clip.

I have one of those. It's like brass knuckles on steroids. :) The blade is crap though and would probably snap easily. I have one like in your picture, which is a modern imitation. Hopefully the old ones were made better.

I too find 'words' to be the most effective of weapon. They can wound people deeply for a long time and while normal scars are on the outside for people to see, scars from words are left hidden inside that person. No one else may know it's there but the person affected does.
