You can spend that money on better plug-ins.

I wouldn't buy it. The 349 edition doesn't come with a whole lot, and the full package costs around 2,300. From personal experience, the expansions are what's really good, they blow the basic sounds out of the water. I would find other means of obtaining nexus, if possible.

U-he Zebra, NI plug-ins, Rob Papen plug-ins... I hear Nexus all the time! It sounds good, yeah, that's why a lot of guys use it... but you can get so much more for your money... But then I'm a sound designer so I would say that.
I'd say yes. The sounds are amazing.
You can't alter the presets that much (basically filter+cutoff, reverb, delay, arp) but there is nothing comparable in terms of quality.
Listen to my tracks if you want know what it sounds like :)
Some of the "Dance Leads" presets are super cheesy and everyone uses them. But it does have some really nice pads, which is what I mainly use it for.
To become a good artist, I think you should invest in a VSTi that allows creation of a synth from scratch, or modification of an already-included preset. This will further your skills and, in the long-run, won't force you to spend ridiculous amounts of money when you can just make the sound yourself.
Lol, since was Nexus worth the money to begin with? Let alone an update...
JK, while its the quintessential of the rompler world, it's still a relatively advanced VST. Closure FTW
The Main Thing is to keep the Main, Thing the Main Thing.
Latest Song: Retraktion [House/Electro] / Latest Mix: Voltaicly Uncondensed
I find it extraordinarily frustrating the inflexibility of it. No synthesis, its a sampler, so you are stuck to adding FX to a base sound. Presets are good, easy to use, not good for a knob tweaker. There are some very unique addons for it. For the price, I don't think its worth it though.
Look at Alchemy or WusikStation instead. Both of them are nice romplers which cost $60.

Good shout! Alchemy is excellent!
I am guilty for using Nexus. But it sure makes your music shine! And your songs always sound so awesome you feel guilty not using them.
You can also combine (layer) Nexus with other self made synth to give it that extra punch. Is it worth the money?
I honestly dont know.... But these people of Refx need to eat some how.
So i was just offered a 200$ investment into it as a christmas gift.....(my only one)
should i use the money for something else?.....
Im seeing most of you say i should.
Why must it be so exoensive?

Why does a Playstation 3 cost over honderd of dollars? Because alot of money was put into making one.
So the same applies for Nexus. Alot of work was put into it.
Take a peak at the prices for a EastWest Vst they cost over 1000 of dollars. Because they had to use high quality recording equipment and instruments and hire sound engineers.
In the end you have to decide if its worth the money. You dont have to listen to us. if you feel that buying this Vst will improve you music, your more then free to buy it ;)
If you know how to used a synthesizer or want to invest in a truly high quality software synth, then Nexus is not the path to take. There are synths which cost half the price or even equal to the price of Nexus and their capabilities are immense.
If you want a supremely high quality sound in your music but would rather not go through all the technical efforts of crafting a sound yourself and instead want to just make the songs and put out your creativity, then Nexus is exactly what you need. Nexus will let you create your music the way you want to without having to go through hours of effort to make a sound.
i just downloaded the demo......some of the instruments work but most of them pop up an error (nxs missing please reinstall) when i click on them. i find this strange because i placed them all in the same folder.... anyone know how to fix this?

Massive's alright, but if you're going to do that, just get Komplete 7 instead. Pretty sure it's 50% off at the moment.
In fact, anyone that can afford it should probably get it.

Silly boy, 3xOsc will serve all your music needs.

I dont use FL.....
Anyway i think im gonna save my money for omnisphere...that thing looks kick-ass!
I personally use Nexus for pianos, pads and for some bass lines from time to time. When I do used a preset I try my best to change it around so it sounds different, I have it when people say, oh you used Cheesy Dance Lead 5 on that song and stuff like that.
If you don't want to buy it I would recommend Sylenth1 or V-Station, I think V-Station is on a crazy deal right now, 40$ for the vst or something like that.

Omnisphere and Trillian are great VST's, and they have total manipulation of the sounds if I am correct, unlike Nexus.
Reaktor 5.5 is a waaaay better investment. Seriously.

Its all a matter of opinion.
I think I'll get omnisphere because it has something like 7000 presets out of the box. Not only that but it is very capable of creating new sounds...
I've tried the Massive and Absynth demo but they didnt do much for me. I'm sure they are great though.
If I were to get reaktor I would just get Komplete 7, although i don't need that much variety and i definetly dont need 24 seperate synths.
Komplete was stil my second choice though.
Oh and after trying the nexus demo....i've realized that its not worth the money just to get a almost non-customizable rompler with an 8th of the sounds (which are almost all saw leads) then other synths.
not only that at 350$, its one of the biggest rip-offs ever.
Spectrasonics gave all atmosphere users a free upgrade to omnisphere.
Refx charges money for skins...
As for Native Instruments, they make everything, and they make them well. I guess its just not for me though.

3xOsc will STILL serve all your music needs!
Nexus 2 with some expansions added to it is excellent. Worth your money. Nexus 2 is my main VST I use, prolly 85% of the time.
Yeah, I use Nexus in a lot of my techno works as well. It's a great VST with lots of good sounding presets, the problem is the level of moddability for them is near zero.
