Treasure Hunt 2010 - Platformers

I've survived 21 pages and 1000+ suggestions and now have a list of 250 finalists for the 2010 Treasure Hunt. I'll wait until the end to announce the winners (to buy myself more time), but for now I'll kick things off with the first batch of noteworthy games.

I also made thumbnails and updated genre info for a lot of these along the way. :O

I've played 4 so far and my favourite is Steak and Jake it's orginal creative and someone put alot of effort into that it's criminal it didn't get the recognition it deserves.

Yeah I front paged some stuff WHILE going through the Treasure Hunt just because otherwise a lot of it still never gets the recognition it should get. It does sorta ruin the thrill of the final list though. :(

Mario Suicide really wasn't that great.

My favorite so far is Ascent. I haven't played them all yet, but ascent is the cleanest and most complete one so far. Its obvious the programmer put a lot of time and effort into it. Not to mention its really addictive...

I would say the best was PushPlatformer, it had a unique stlye of play that also was just alot of fun to do, I liked making the weird forcefield thing. Forest Warrior was also a lot of fun, and the 8bit mix of Eye of the Tiger made it that much cooler. One Step Back had a slightly philosophical message which is relatively uncommon in flash games, and had quite a few unique characteristics in the gameplay as well as a clean look. Lastly, although Ghosts Stole My Puppy was very similar to Luigi's Mansion, I found it to be a lot of fun and it had some funny items. Overall, I would say PushPlatformer was my favorite in this category, though.

Anyways I only played a couple but Where Is 2010? is my current favorite of the bunch. Great finds by whoever posted them.

One Step Back is definitely the standout. It does a great job of communicating its artsy ideas through gameplay, its intended meaning is clear and unpretentious, and it actually offers a fun mindbending challenge unlike some art games which only offer an experience. It's a sexy little game.
