I only like Penny Lane, but that's awesome nonetheless.

Well, LadyStardust informed me earlier today that there was a timer on the Apple site counting down for something to happen to iTunes. This was obviously the result.
I'd go and buy a Beatles album, but quite frankly I don't like The Beatles.

I'm glad they finally got that sorted out. Was it an issue with the rights or something?

There were legal battles with the record label, which is why they were never on iTunes.
They've just been put on today, apple made a huge teaser about it yesterday, announcing it today.
Personally I was expecting more.. iTunes cloud content.. iOS 4.2 come to mind..

Are you serious? They added them now?? I had every single album, and expected them to already have it on Itunes. And they never had them? Wow, just wow. I cannot believe for one minute, that The Beatles have never been on Itunes till now. Out of every artist in the whole entire god damn motherfucking world, they didn't add The Beatles till now. Unbelievable, well at least there on Itunes now.

The way it was explained to me is that when apple computers started in order to use the name they had to promise the label apple that they wouldn't go into the music business, which way back when was safe for a computer company to say.

Who cares.
If you really gave a shit about the Beatles, you'd have a bunch of their albums already, and so putting them on iTunes is completely redundant.

Same here. But then again, i still don't have iTunes 10 downloaded yet. I love iTunes, of course, but I care much more about Apple's other products.
Although I've already got pretty much all of the Beatles on my other iTunes library, the one over on my main comp doesn't have any. I'm not buying any songs, of course.

Ah yes, Apple Corps vs Apple Computers, I believe? Yeah, that's the one.

So awesome, especially since I heard about the whole "Apple" deal on both sides.

I hardly see how this matches the hype that Apple put out there. Most people that are fans of The Beatles have probably already bought a CD of theirs from Wal-Mart. Way to get me excited over nothing Apple.

If I remember correctly, Michael Jackson actually owned the rights to all the Beatles catalog. And since he's dead...

Er, Mj's catalog is on iTunes, though.
it was because of the Apple Corps vs. Apple Computers debacle they had. I'm pretty sure it was just them arguing about who had the rights to use the name 'Apple', but it apparently ended with Apple Computers being pretty mad if they kept the Beatles off iTunes for like 10 years.
