So here in Arizona medical marijuana is now going to be legal. However as Arizona is very conservative, it might be much more strict than say California. I am sure that here in Arizona that you need more than just "GotNoWeeditus" probably actually have to have something like cancer or some other chronic illness.
This is great news for me as my father has cancer and it has caused his right arm to no longer function but gives him great pain as it is nerve pain. It could help him out greatly to ease the pain. He takes pain pills but they do little against the nerve pain.
Btw, I am not a stoner. I have smoked weed once before and didn't care for it.

I actually believe that marijuana should have never been made illegal in the first place. If you see why it was made illegal, and why it is still illegal, you will see that it is complete bullshit. Most people want it to stay illegal simply because it is illegal and never asking why it is illegal.

One of my good friends is a conservative, She would fight to the teeth over abortion and run away spending in congress, but she loves to smoke weed and do drugs.

but we should at least decriminalize it, or at least do what some states to and just put a fine on it if you are caught with it. Being put in jail for it does more harm than good. It costs tax payer money to keep a person in jail.

Well considering how I have heard alcholol and nictoene ciggeretes have much worse effects on you than maijriuanansgha then I guess it being illegal makes it fair. There's lots of things we don't 'need' in order to survive, but they're completely legal. There's no good reason for marijuana to be illegal, and places that start legalising/decriminalising it are doing the right thing.

Except when you have terminal diseases you don't care about lung cancer. Its also needed to help qwell patients pain when say a more lethal drug like morphine is too strong and wrecks havoc in the patients body in the more doses you need.

Intuition does not equal scientific proof. And yes things get banned for reasons, that doesn't make them good reasons.

Anyway, marijuana is less harmful than tobacco or alcohol, and only now people are finally figuring that out, which is is a rather shame to say the least. This law may have to do more with the drug cartels more than medical purposes, considering how the cartels are now entering Arizona and commiting drug crimes on this side of the border. That's not to say that the medical purpose of pot has been swept under the rug, but I think that is secondary compared to the slowing down the cartel's control over the border.
I still believe that marijuana should be totally legalized in America, like tobacco or alcohol.

So now quite a few of the western states have medical. That's a good thing to me, but I'm anticipating a major backlash once a state finally does legalize it and all of a sudden someone discovers people drive stoned and makes it into a big deal.

Most states have actually decriminalized marijuana possession... I think in Ohio (where I'm originally from), being in possession of anything under five grams warrants like a 25$ / gram fine. It's the distributors who have to be careful. If you are caught with over (I think) like 56g of marijuana, it's a year per ounce over that first 2 ounces, on top of the 25$ x 56grams fine.
I'm not so sure I want to raise children in a place where Marijuana is totally legal. Though that law didn't pass, it will undboubtedly be brought up again for California, as we already have Medicinal Marijuana dispensaries on street corners.

This is great news.
I had a herniated L5-S1 (lower back vertebrae), my doc had me try 9 different prescription drugs to ease the pain. The only one that helped at all was the last one, Percocet (an oxycodone/acetaminophen mix in one pill). It didn't take effect for close to an hour, which wasn't cutting it. I told my doc that pot was the best pain killer I had available, it was fast acting (immediate actually) and lasted about an hour.
His advice to me, "you do what you need to do to alleviate the pain"
1 joint + 1 percocet = no pain.
BTW, overdosing on pot is possible, but the only thing that happens is you eat a huge bag of chips then have a nap. Ever see a percocet overdose?

Medical weed is essentially legalized weed with restrictions.
Its for people who can afford it, have a stable life and can actually benefit from smoking it.
