I have read countless stories about different versions of flash (I'm updating from flash 8 here) and I have decided to go with CS3. My mind is set on that.
However, I can only get the latest version from Adobe.com.
Is there a site where I can buy CS3 (Paypal preferred) and download it from the website?

Firstly, you need at least CS4 because CS3 won't allow image imports, file browsing, etc.
Secondly, I recommend FlashDevelop (free) and learn AS3.

Umm... CS3 actually does allow you to import images... and CS3 does support AS3...
I have researched everything about CS3 and CS4 and I decided to go with CS3...
Sorry if I didn't make that clear enough, but I think I did...
So can anyone help me? Where can I buy and download it?

There will be times when you want to directly import images and fonts, called from a class file
and not from the library. CS3 does NOT do this.
Try this code in CS3 and you'll see that it does not work...
[Embed(source = 'assets/heroRight.png')]
private var heroRight:Class;
... and CS3 does support AS3...
I didn't say it didn't.
I have researched everything about CS3 and CS4 and I decided to go with CS3...
Continue your research....

Adobe is pretty particular about getting people to buy the latest and greatest. Other than amazon or maybe ebay... I guess all you can do is cross your fingers and use google.
Personally, I would just get CS5 :P

ReNae is right.
Just buy CS5, you get more features anyways.
And also, if you're a student, you can get a huge discount and they changed their terms so now you can use your student license for commercial purposes too.

Or like zenyara said, don't waste money and download the Flex SDK and FlashDevelop for FREE.

That's fine, if you only want to code and not animate or anything like that.

That's one of the things I hate with the newer versions (except CS3).
