I kind of noticed that the vast majority of the songs here are techno, with a few pop songs in the mix. The so-called "industrial" and "dnb" songs submitted here just prove that people are confused over what they're making. I'm guessing the techno thing is big here because NG users think these genres would work well in Flash videos or games. Still, it wouldn't hurt to branch out a bit and learn some new techniques that could bring a little more variety and quality to this site. The same high-pitched smooth synths, simple drum beats and (generally) poor mastering/EQing is a little disappointing.

Clearly you've just looked at the top30 and stuff. If you stick around a bit and listen to some forum regular's works you'll notice there's quite a variety of music on this site. Look further than what meets the eye (or in this case, ear).

Okay, I'll start making MIDI remixes with all NEXUS leads to meet your expectations.

If you actually knew the first thing about genres yourself, you'd know that the majority of songs labeled "techno" are bottom-tier trance, or the trance/pop fusion commonly known as "dance."
I haven't heard a single decent REAL techno song on Newgrounds since I started visiting over a year ago.

Newgrounds is a website, not a person.
Just saying.

The Solution!
Go to some other site where you can upload music, and listen there!!
That and make threads like this in the general section. I haven't learned anything as to how to better my musical skills through this thread.
Also, notice the thread poster hasn't responded at all, so he was most likely just here to try and start a fight.

Lol. Random lectures about musical integrity from an immature genre snob who doesn't even make his own music. I love this place!

While i disagree that its all techno and pop, why don't you do something about it instead of informing us all of this discrepancy. Make some music.

As do I, they are scientific and such.
They prove sciences right, such as the evolution stuff.

Make sure you use only NEXUS leads for every instrument in your midi files.

If troll: been there seen that.
If serious: ...been there seen that.
This whole topic has been hashed out so often, for real and as a joke, that it's frankly insane. I haven't even been here all that long, I'm sure some of the Old Ones are like three times as tired of it as I am, and I'm pretty tired of it.
Newgrounds has many genres of music. Genres are a set of guidelines, not a set of rules (really more like a set of suggestions, yarrr, I be a pirate of the carribean....), and if you're classifying things as "techno" and "pop", you need to brush up on what those guidelines suggest. There's a ton of music on Newgrounds outside of those two genres, a recently prominent one of which is rap (which I've noticed gaining a lot of momentum in the audio portal lately since I got here like however many years ago before I made this account) which holds very, very few co-attributes with Pop/Techno.
But again, shame on you, whether it's serious OR a joke for Not Doing The Research.

Dude - How to upset people!
1) Industrial and DnB are genres in their own right! How can you call people confused with what they are making! That's quite insulting to plenty of artists who know they're genre's well. Careful how you phrase things, because you can potentially have upset quite a lot of people (including me, who likes to try another genre occasionally)
2) New people learn skills that improve them with feedback of reviews. Don't complain here. Provide feedback via reviews to artists that you are complaining about with poor mastering. Don't expect Fantastic things from beginners!
The idea of the Audio Portal is to help amateurs become better with their musical skills. In order for that to happen there is such a thing as leave a review. That's where they listen to feedback and therefore get better!
Oh, most artists use FL, reason or the like so electronica is pretty much the main export
What? I can haz signiture?
