Yup,debate over here...Which one(flash animation or flash game) do you think would stand the test of time in themes of popularity?Which one do you think is more consist in themes of a series?Which one would check out twice?
Well, my opinion is that flash animations are great but, flash games will stand the test of time in themes of popularity.I mean, If it wasn't for websites like Newground or stickpage,I wouln't ever know about flash animation but, flash games are almost everywhere on the web.Flash animations are awesome but,some/most critics(especially the ones that wait forever for the conclusion of a flash animation series(God protect them)) say that the animation is too short and then the author would comment about all the hard work and time placed into make the animation. Because of this, I've learned to appreciate the 'little' things in life *laughing* animations would be more appreciated if more people liked to watch the same short movies over and over(like me) as for games, the same amount of time and work is placed into making a game(not neccesarily but, could) games are more addictive(Especially violent ones) interactive(duh) and somethings has so animation scene in it(in themes of storyline) anyway, that's just my opinion(it's probably not factual and politically incorrect) so I'd like to hear everybody else opinion and let the debate begin :D

Games are more popular because users often will play them more then once. Games are usually played more then movies, because people wish to finish them or just to passed the time. For a movie, its just the same experience.
Example:
How many of us watched a movie more then we played a video game?
I know I played Perfect Dark more then I watched 300

Flash games sadly.
I like animations more, but flash games would stand in the end.
Simply because alot of this site's popularity comes from kids in school who don't want to work, so they go on the internet in their school library looking for free games to play. Site likes xgames, armor games, max games, stuff like that.
And if they want to watch cartoons, they buy family guy box sets.

anyway....I think the reason why kids dominate this website instead of flash game developers(kids out number the people who make flash) is because some kids don't even know what flash games are, they call 'em "cartoon games" isn't funny....

It's hard to say, but if I had to bet, I'd say Flash games because there's no good alternative to the object-oriented model of AS3 for the web yet. All the fancy HTML5 and CSS3 stuff would still be driven by Javascript, and OOP in Javascript feels fake at best (It is prototype-based after all). Sure, some simple games might be better implemented in Javascript and friends, and it would probably run faster, but as soon as you start wanting to make classes and shit, fuhgettaboutit.

It would be games because websites like YouTube give you easy access to flash animations or any other videos. I do not know if there are any games on YouTube, so that will be something we have that they (at least currently) do not have. I mean, if you look at the Top 10 most watched submissions of all time, I am pretty sure all of them are games. The hentai sim has 43 million hits, while "The Ultimate Showdown" has only 11 million.

Flash games gain more attention. Animations, while still very nice, aren't as well received by all.
