If it were greater, I would realise even MORE how much my life actually sucks.

We know we only use 15% of our brain-capacity, so I'm quite proud of the fact what we've accomplished so far with that 15%.

We already could've had hoverboards.
Still proud?

Lol, and we could have this and that. Just see what's possible today - it also covers aspects that were impossible 10 years ago. That one predicted aspect does not make or is delayed for some reason, doesn't mean great progress had been made the last few decades. :)
You also should be open to see what has been achieved, and don't put all your focus on what's not.
Feels like I don't know what you're talking about...
If it's the 5% of our brain gets used thing: myth. [http://www.snopes.com/science/stats/10p ercent.asp]

It wasn't really about that percentage brain use thing, but that is kinda relevent.
Its more about the fact that if we spent our whole time learning things, and puzzling things over, instead of playing videogames (which applies to many) we would probably be much cleverer.
Another example is that if you spend a lot of your time memorising things, you get better at memorising things.
Our brains aren't like computers with a fixed amount of processing power and memory from the start, as far as humans know so far, our memory is indefinite and the more you use your brain (its wierd talking about 'your brain' when really 'your brain' is you) the better you get at using it.
For example people who socialise a lot (especially at a younger age) get better at understanding other humans body language, and intuiting what they are thinking.
Or if you start to play team sports, over time you get better at understanding the tactics, what is going on and where you need to be.
What is the point of having a mind if we don't make it as great as we can.
great
fuck intelligence
power is the only measure of worth
Haha all you people who posted the obvious answer (that I knew was coming when I wrote the first post) without actually thinking about this are so funny and unpredictable haha.

haha when I read this I thought this would be like an infomercial thing.
It's a sad fact your mind isn't as a great as it could be...
But don't worry your troubles are over! Try brainpowar!
It sucks.
I always feel like i have underachieved. Even if i really did my best on something, i will still feel like i could've done better. Always.
It feels like shit. Thanks for rubbing it in, ass.

I wasn't going to mention that, because it being true supported my argument.
People use 100% of their brains, but just not all of it at the same time.
fu

Ah, the FOX News Method of argumentation.

Playing video games IS a way of learning something and puzzling it over. It improves hand-eye coordination and other tasks.

Yes, practice improves performance. Up to a point. After that, you need to practice more intelligently to improve. You become more about improving the way you're practicing than actually practicing to improve.
What is the point of having a mind if we don't make it as great as we can.
Who says there has to be a point to having a mind? Other than the obvious reasons that we have them. Also: who says having a mind less than the greatest possible (and undefined) ideal is pointless? It just seems like an unusual way to phrase the age-old question of "why are we here?", and also that you're suiting your question to support your apparent conclusion of, 'to be as knowledgeable and intelligent as possible through endless practice."
I don't necessarily disagree that people should be striving to improve their intellect as often as possible, but I don't think that it's necessarily true that EVERYONE needs to do that all the time or they are worthless.
