I mean, what the fuck is this? If little Billy starts to get fat then the parents should just put him on a diet and make him exercise. Tell little Billy that he must eat healthy foods and make him lay off of the McDonalds. Kids should not be the boss of their parents.

This is just ignorant.

All the people talking about "government oppression" need to wise the fuck up. I for one don't want to carry around a portable wet lab to everywhere I eat just to check that it's safe. If restaurants started putting potassium cyanide or toxic levels of salt in your food you would cry outrage, but we have laws in place so that companies can't pass off dangerous chemicals as nutritious food, thereby not killing hundreds of people. Just because it doesn't kill you instantly doesn't mean we should let kids junk out on diabetes burgers.

If independent researchers are telling you it's too toxic for kids, then shut the hell up and listen.

Er, if that was the case then they'd have to stop selling the main menu too, considering that the Happy Meal is just made up of the same food, just in smaller portions.

Similar thread in Politics.

I stand by my post in that thread: Parents are responsible for what they buy for their kids. They make the choices and spend the money.

Lol! I think Ronald McDonald's take on the situation holds a lot more weight in this issue!

But seriously...it's dumb. The kids are just going to want to go to burger king. What are they going to ban happy meals of any kind? It's not like the meals are 1,500 calories or something outrageous, so getting fat shouldn't even be an issue. Isn't the nugget meal like 4 nuggets? Come on...

McDonald's isn't even all that unhealthy anymore. A chicken sandwich and some french fries won't kill you. If you're really overdoing it enough to where it's going to, then it's not the restaurants fault, and you should seek help immediately.

"The move to turn Happy Meals into healthy meals was proposed because some in the northern California city felt that McDonald's offers toys to entice kids to buy meals that don't meet nutritional criteria." Wow San Francisco people are retarded. They act like children hold their parents at gunpoint for a happy meal. I can't wait for a 9.5 ranked earthquake to fuck up that rathole of a city.

Typical Liberals trying to tell us how to live our lives. I hope McDonalds sues San Francisco and forces them into economic collapse.

No more toys? All that's going to do is have people leave San Fran to dine.

Maybe they could just get a free toy and not the meal. Doesn't McDonald's have like milk or oranges or something, or is that Burger King? Reminds me of the "South Park" episode where Colorado banned KFC and it turned into a "Scarface" parody with fried chicken instead of cocaine. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

McDonald's fault? They should be free to serve whatever they want. If people buy it, it's the people's fault! If McDonalds wants to serve frozen lard on a stick, that's their right. If people want to buy it, that's their right. If someone wants to eat frozen lard everyday and dies from a massive heart attack, that's the person's fault.

The only thing McDonalds has to do is provide nutritional information, so people can make an informed decision.

Which they provide on the bottom of the boxes, but the parents just like to point their fat sausage fingers at MD, because that's the easy way out.
"They made it so cheap, IT'S AN OFFER A COULDN'T REFUSE. Now my Lil' Billy is fat and it's their fault!"

Jeez people, take a look into the mirror, think before you buy your kids fast food every other day.

Oddly, the governement is doing the same, banning Happy Meals. Like the kids care, they want their fucking burger, which they can still get. It won't chance a damn thing, except that the kid won't have fun with some random toy which he throws away a day later.

No they shouldn't! They should do whatever the fuck they want, this is the United States of America. If you want more fruits and other healthy items, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

I swear, many of you should just move to commie land where you can force your will on the people. YOU WILL EAT FRUITS AND VEGETABLES AND GET NO TOYS!

Perhaps they should, from a "people should eat healthy food" perspective, but it's a burger joint, they have crappy food. This isn't bad for once every two weeks or so, but of your kids eat that junk every other day, of course they will get fat. Adding apples to their menu won't make the kids actually eat that.

The far left and far right are equally bad. However, in this case, I have a feeling it's the left since it's San Francisco.

So you're going to take away something that healthy people enjoy as an occasional treat because other people can't stop eating it all the time? I say let people get fat and die, and they should qualify for healthcare or government assistance if they want to eat McDonalds everyday.

Well japan has the right idea http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1204 853 .
And why not have the government offer gym cards for people who are over weight like japan is doing aside from banning it like they did?

that's what i was gonna say, this is just another example of the nutjob left wingers of gay fransisco imposing their will on the people of that city. To those that say it's a good idea, the results would not be in your favor because they can simply go to a mcdonalds outside the city limits and get a happy meal there.
