Do you take the BBS too seriously?

I've been noticing a lot of bros who take the BBS far too seriously. They're the type that look at The BBS as their life, or they're the type who ... well, let's just put it in typical BBS argument: BBS=Newgrounds.

They're the kind who will bark and hound those who another user for what they see as a "bad post". I guess they think the internet is some serious business or at least The Forums. Why do they act as such? Bigger E-Peen? For the "lulz"? Boredom? Or do they view their arrogance as intelligence? Don't know.

There was a time, back in the early days of Newgrounds, say 2001, when people saw the BBS being better than now. Is it true? Well, I can agree, I have read a few topics then and I must say it looks like a bucket of fun. Why? People went to The Forums to chill, yo. They came there to joke, help other users with their Flash troubles, and maybe discuss some current events. Overall, the jokes were the king of The Forums.

From the First Post of the current BBS lies much of the random comedy. Even some of the topicsduring that time got some attention from the admins that today would seem merely as spam. And some off the wall stupidity.

Of course, after the redesign, doesn't mean that fun has stopped, we all know of liljim's ability to claim the First Post. Some funny topics that people were cool with in this age ... DickNeck, for one. Of course, our very own Needledick.

The BBS users now try to shun comedy, or they expect something to be funny right off from the Original Post - which isn't the case. That is like electing a president and expecting dramatic changes with a month's time ... it doesn't work. What's left for us to pick up on some of the older times is a few photoshop threads and circlejerks which get put down by a number of "serious" BBS users.

Now, don't get me wrong, The Forums of Newgrounds can't be all fun and games, we do need our times of non-humor, but I say we need to lighten up from now. just chill, relax, pop open a beer, and hang in The BBS. Rather than creating a lot of bad blood made of E-Hate and Flame Wars. Of course, some feed off of it, I prefer the fun vibes.

Leave nonsense violence to Flash and the fun to the BBS Stop trying to mock each other and prove your intellect by showering each other in arguments. Don't put down each other for your simple inane beliefs that you're Superior or another is inferior. Take time to enjoy one another company and of course, the humor. Chuckle a little, this isn't a debate website. Sometimes, the E-Bad Blood here can be as bad as negative political ads.

TL;DR: People take the BBS far too seriously and shuns comedy that it tends leads to E-Bad Blood. It makes me sad. I want people to chill out and take in some comedy.

I understand perfectly well that many of you - MANY of you will disagree and perhaps put down my topic. Likely with copying my post and dissecting it with each paragraph in an attempt to make me feel stupid. Whatevs. Don't expect a reply, though. You'll "win" the "argument.

But thinking back, I've never had an outright problem with people trying to be funny. Only the ones who fail miserably at it, and then don't learn / try the same lame humour over and over again.

I think there has been a marked reduction in funny threads (like those linked to) that actually work on here. Some people think it's funny to piss all over a thread's purpose, regardless of what the purpose actually was. Ergo; if it was supposed to be fun, some people will go out of their way to ruin it by NOT being any fun. As a result, people seem to have been discouraged from trying to make these threads, even if they have a really good idea for one.

(No, I'm not talking about mods locking things. I'm talking about the idiots who try and derail threads with the first post.)

Also, meme-spewers really need to die. They're NEVER funny.

He at least put time and thought into his thread which is something hardly any posters do anymore which is why the BBS is slowly getting worse and worse.
