The next one will be HUGE, I'll make it so. Plus starting next year we have one a year, so I need to make up for the contest we will be missing. ;)
I can't believe we're in the 3rd year of RAC, where is all this time going?

I think that out of everyone, Haiti and Norway should be the most upset at their rankings. I thought both of those pieces were excellent, and am surprised they didn't end up scoring more. I'm also surprised that the orchestral pieces as a whole didn't do a lot better.

I'm actually glad I didn't win -- the contestants really stepped up the authenticity this year with stunningly accurate songs. I didn't pay as much attention to country representation as I should have, and with a cop-out country like the United States I felt like I could get away with the "American music is a blend of other music so I can make whatever I want" excuse.
I'm participating next round. And I'm choosing a country to represent that'll put hair on your chest. (Even if you're female.)
Sometimes, it would rain men. "Hallelujah!", we would cry. Thousands were killed.

ha, i'm not upset. I really don't belong on this website, but I'm just glad to get people to hear my songs. I'm glad somebody understands my pain though, lol

Yeah, I'm to surprised at my score. I didn't do nearly as good a job as I could have, but I procrastinated, so its apparent what the real problem with my song was: lack of effort.
Oh well, there's always next year!

8th place? I laugh at my position! I can get that people don't like my tunes because I'm very artistic in my sounds and don't give two shits about theory, but I think it's strange that my representation points are low as well as the entertainment points (which I know for a fact were all about how the opening is so 'lame' sounding but that's how that Thai music sounds: alot of jumping back to open notes), plus the evidence points. Most of that stuff came straight out of my head from world musical study and so you wanted me to site books and websites that I've read over years? I find that strange but I digress.
I see that you didn't incorporate my corrected voting slot in the contest there, Neon. Quite confused as to why. I didn't understand your wording in the PM at all until I pondered it for a while (damn Asperger's Syndrome).
My love goes out to North pole, who didn't get an "8" next to their country because of me and Romania for being my favorite submission, you rock!
Also, I congratulate jkap1 for winning the First place spot (although I think you could've done a whole two shitloads better my man ;]) and China for second place despite my notoriously horrid opinion of your song, lol (you gotta have me hear that other piece you were talking about, just send a link via PM) but most importantly, to everyone who participated in making the contest happen, including the participants. I'll be attending the contest for sure the next time it comes around and hope to get a country more suited to myself like Japan or a middle eastern country (like Turkey :P) but then again, where's the fun in getting a country you know everything about?
I thought this contest was really cool because I got exposed to several new artists who I think will be good allies in the future. Honestly, I loved how you only had to make one song for this (unlike RUNGADM) because I don't just pump songs out like a machine! It takes real inspiration to get me to make a full song and even though I didn't do everything to the song that I wanted to because the inspiration came late I still think it's a real cool song. I hope that y'all will maybe keep an eye on this experimental musician from Pennsylvania, U.S. and wish y'all the best of luck!

Thanks. Full disclosure: my hard drive actually crashed at in mid-December, and I had to sloppily try to recreate my entry from scratch in about two weeks. The previous version was this awesome hybrid piece that started out as a highlife tune, but then flipped in the middle with all kinds of electro-garbage.
In the end, when I made it over, I couldn't redo what I'd done before, so I decided that I'd play it more straight & just make a "real" sounding highlife tune. Apparently that was the right strategy because it netted me the trophy, but TBH my previous attempt - which is now lost forever - was a lot better & more innovative. (Which means I probably wouldn't have even placed if I'd been able to submit it ;)

Wait, quick question about the results - why does the USA only have two numbers factoring into the score? Did I get a zero in everything besides two block votes?

Not exactly, the points in that chart only go to the top 10 marks in each category.
Just because you didn't get points there doesn't mean you got a 0 from the judges marks.

better than last year. I wasn't even on the result board lol.....my life sucks
lol, I got 13th :). Guess it's not to bad for my first time. Wish I could've done better though, but I went for accuracy and kinda scrapped entertainment value for that.

Hate to double post, but could you guys give me some pointers? Pretty much did it all in Fruity Loops. Didn't even figure out automation till yesterday. Some of what you guys use seem pretty complicated. I don't have much recording equipment, so I usually work with virtual instruments and adjust velocity for sound levels. I'm pretty much a total noob in FL. The tutorials are mostly down, so I'd love for some pointers in FL, or suggestions for other software to try.
