Apple Hate?

I have never seen a company get so much devotion from one group and so much scorn from another.

I really don't understand why some people hate Apple so much. I mean, people are constantly talking shit about them. I understand that they are pricey and most people probably just buy them for looks, but who gives a shit. Nobody is forcing you to buy them, and people spend more money on things solely due to it being a big brand and looking nice all of the fucking time.

People also constantly say they hate Apple due to the fact that Macs are not very good at playing games. I don't really know why that would make you hate them. If you want to game then just don't buy a damn Mac. Wouldn't that make more sense than just brooding while thinking about the fact that Macs exist.

I have an iPhone and I always get one of two reactions when I pull it out. "ZOMG LET ME PLAY WITH IT" and "Oh *scoffs* well you know that Droids are much better and more customizable". Then when I tell them that I don't care about customizing it they always get a really condescending attitude toward me about. Like I am a lesser person because of the phone I have.

Can't we just agree that different strokes are for different folks?

I own a macbook pro running Snow Leopard and a custom built HP running Windows 7. I love them both very much, for different reasons. The mac hate is just dumb kids that can't afford one, so they assume that macs are terrible.

Actually, I take it back. Holy shit... It's been a few years since I got it and the prices are INSANE now.

I actually don't have one. I have a laptop made by HP that runs off of a Celeron processor and it only cost $300. The only thing I have that is made by Apple is an iPhone.

Sure, Apple makes overpriced boutique computers, but that's not what it is about for everybody.

For some, it's because they often treat their partners or developers like shit, like changing the terms of service to target and block a specific app (Google Voice) , dicking around with their app store policies every other week (We're going to pull down thousands of apps because they're too explicit. By the way, we're adding a new 'explicit' section), telling you that you're not allowed to use third party development tools (Hey guys, you can only use our SDK. No Flash or anything. Oh wait, we might think of allowing PhoneGap, but first let us make sure our terms of service don't allow Flash). Hell, they even tell you what programming language it has to be in

For others, it's the fact that they're ludicrously controlling with what you can do with your hardware, or what software can run on it. I won't get in to that much. There's a reason most people say "Jailbreaking" for iPhones and "rooting" for other platforms. (Which, of course, Apple bitched about and it took the Library of Congress with a DMCA ruling to shut them up...)
