--Laptop--
Model: HP G60-442OM
CPU: Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4300 @ 2.10 GHz
GPU: Intel GMA X4500MHD 64 MB
RAM: 4 GB DDR2 RAM
HDD: ~300 GB usable
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit, Ubuntu 10.10 64-Bit

--Desktop--
Model: Dell Dimension 4300
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 @ 1.6 GHz (to be upgraded to around 2.0 to 2.4 GHz)
GPU: ATI Rage 128 Pro TF 16 MB (to be upgraded to Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 128 MB)
RAM: 256 MB PC133 SDRAM (to be upgraded to 1 GB)
HDD: 20 GB
OS: Arch Linux (32-Bit, GNOME interface)

I gots plans for my desktop to be at least useful. I know my machines ain't much to sneeze at, but for everything other than video games, they're awesome experimental computers (especially the desktop). I do play some games on my laptop (Half-Life 1 & 2, Monkey Island, TF Classic, etc. etc.).

dude, I'm on a laptop with essentially identical specs (mine's a Toshiba though), install XP man, best thing I EVER did. I have a 4GB RAM desktop running 7 and this 1GB running XP boots quicker and loads everything faster at start up, it's truly amazing.

AMD Athalon II X3 - 2.7Ghz
3GB DDR2 RAM
Integrated Nvidia 9200 1GB
WIndows 7 Premium
2x 140GB HDDs

Not exactly great, but not bad for some £250 store bought shit.
