The first one was pretty good I might say, But it lacks details. And also "Welcome to the ART FORUM" and I'll avoid links if I were you. Because people here get pissed off easily.

It's more that we don't like it when people post one image and a link and say "go here to see the rest of my art".
This is different because it's like sharing a type of art program of sorts.

referencing small parts is fine, but referencing the whole image like that is just as good as tracing in my opinion

I don't really know if referencing a whole image would be bad exactly but I think it should only be called tracing if you wen't over the outside of a object's outline.
The only thing bad I can think of is if it's done of reference is if you did a completely perfect copy of the thing without doing any alterations of your own.
