Why can't we "like" things?

Referring to NG submissions. Almost every site that hosts videos has an option to like it on facebook, why not here?

OH RIGHT, BECAUSE FACEBOOK IS SOME SORT OF ORIGINALITY-DEPRAVED SUCCUBUS THAT DESTROYS ANY FEELING IN A WEBSITE.

The LAST thing NG needs is to be another fucking social networking site. So what's next? Add a like button underneath everyones posts? Add tags to pictures? How about whenever we sign in we get a big fucking list of quotes from songs that all of your "friends" post. Or how about Tom just says "Fuck this" and deletes everything on the site and replaces it with a single link to Facebook.

On facebook, I have 300+ friends.

If I am able to "like" a Newgrounds submission w/ facebook, then ALL THREE HUNDRED AND COUNTING PEOPLE WILL SEE THAT SUBMISSION, THAT'S FREE ADVERTISEMENT RIGHT THERE!

Start thinking like a business man. Tom Fulp would obviously welcome more people signing up to this website. Facebook and any social networking site can be used to gather EVEN MORE users if we were to add a simple button.

What would be the point of "Liking" it? If the question is about popularity, that's reflected in the score of the flash, and if it's about having a list of "Likes," there's a favorites page.

That's a lot of time for lazy newgrounders. Go around and ask if you wish. I'm sure most people would favor a like button over having to copy and paste a link. It's too much of a hassle for most people.

Lots of people go on facebook. Lots of people can like newgrounds videos. Lots of people can see that Newgrounds is pretty popular. Lots of people will visit Newgrounds more if lots of people click the like button, which WILL happen. Lots of people will get more info on Newgrounds from just one person.

Think of it this way: If every person that has facebook on Newgrounds liked ONE FLASH SUBMISSION, and if that was enough to convince ONE of their friends to check out what they posted on their wall on facebook, Newgrounds' user base would literally double over night.

Would that really be a good thing? I don't know if you noticed, but NG isn't a site that's more about making profit or making a name out there, Tom usually cares more about the community than profit, and flooding this site with people who probably "tyep leik dis u kno?" and make threads camwhoring themselves out is not going to bring anything good to the community.
