Yep, just as of recent I noticed that MGM, one of the most long time movie makers in the film industry has actually planned on going for bankruptcy (http://www.thirdage.com/news/mgm-bankru ptcy-details-4-billion-mgm-studio-bankru ptcy-deal_10-8-2010)
I'm certain this is a shock to many but at least on the good side, this could also give a "Green Light" to consider film production for The Hobbit witch has in fact been undergoing a series of delays for a very long time.

Heard about this, and it kind of sucks.
As much as i'd like to see the Hobbit, I'd rather see MGM alive and have the hobbit delayed a little bit more.

Doesn't surprise me. They piss money away on their film productions. Half their funding goes on keeping their stars full of booze and coke.

serves them right. internet will save integrity. art for art's sake, not for profit.

That's depressing, but these last few years have shown that all good things must come to an end at some point in time.
ex. Michael Jackson.

As great as that sounds, filmmakers need companies to help fund their projects, and when they can't make money they can't fund art.

Er...actually the bankruptcy is halting the production of The Hobbit (and the next Bond movie), not speeding it up. And this is pretty old news, but they're just now figuring out how they're going to get back on their feet.
