The first episode was great, very atmospheric, very enjoyable but it did have it's fair share of plotholes, e.g Rick has inifnite IV drip, isn't covered in his own piss/shit when he wakes up, no one sought to raid the police station for weapons, the zombies can climb fences and ladders (as seen in episode 2) but can't climb over a fence to eat a horse or over at the police station. At the end of episode 1, that bit under the tank where Rick aplogises was really out of place. And, it also showed the zombies eating the horse, :(, but they were just holding the organs and stuff to their face but not actually eating. That bugged me too.
The second episode was enjoyable too but it just wasn't as good as the first. I didn't like the rainbow coalition; the token black guy, the fat mexican, the racist red neck, the weedy yet plucky asian guy, the middle aged woman who acts as a cliche mother figure to her younger sister and some black chick who coincidentally works as zoning officer or some shit and knows the layout of the store they happen to be in. Nice writing guys. They all seemed so 'plastic'.
The 2 women in the SUPPLIES GATHERERS are seemingly useless, squeamish at the sight of blood and they have absolutely no practice with firearms. Merle is just, wow, a dumbfuck. The asian guy is seen driving down the EMPTY road leaving Atlanta city. For some reasons, they decided to not allow contraflow to evacuate the city. Rick also somehow starts a new model Dodge Challeneger with a fucking screwdriver. Pffft.
They also showed that the zombies can easily be avoided making the premise of "omfg we're screwed" somewhat retarded. Just cover yourself in guts, act like a zombie, hope it doesn't rain and you'll be fine.
However, looking over the various holes, it really is a tremendous show. It has really great feel to it. I can't wait till episode 3 because, I assume, Rick is going back to the camp omgggggggggg.
sorry for probably covering points already discussed, i found out this thread exists just now and haven't read through.
