3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsI've had this laptop since maybe March/April/May of 2009.
It's a Dell, though I can't be sure of which model. It has a webcam and a microphone built in at the top of the screen. I spent maybe $800 on it.
A while ago, I discovered one side of my computer was kind of... funny looking. The right (my right, when I was looking at the keyboard and screen) of the screen's frame seemed to be kind of coming out. Turns out, the staple (for lack of a better word) had somehow fallen out. No real damage done it seemed -- computer worked perfectly, screen was fine. Just needed to be careful, readjust it every now and then.
Then, maybe a week and a half ago, the other side's staple must have come out too because the same thing (but slightly worse) is happening to the other side. It's getting frustrating. Maybe it's a real problem. The computer itself is just fine! But the screen's frame is like, breaking.
I assume it's because of the constant use, endless opening and closing. But what gives? None of my other laptops have had this trouble. Ever.
I'm pretty sure my warranty is over (it's been a year and a half). So, is there any way I can like, fix this before my entire laptop falls apart? Cheaply AND efficiently would be preferable, although I want to hear every option possible.

The redesign happened, now my signature doesn't match anymore.
The warranty for my Toshiba is like 3 years or something.
I dunno man, you might be stuck with a laptop that has to be connected to another display to work.
But hey, now you can pretend you're living in the 90's
Same thing happened to my HP. I don't think it's a big problem though.. Other shit will break before you have real issues because of that.
The fan cooler is what killed me, you make sure to take care of that.

Did you ever fix it?

Emphasis are great!
One of my laptop's alt keys fell off a while ago.

I didn't. The fan cooler just died and I didn't even notice it. That made the laptop overheat and die in a really short period of time.. I sold the useful parts for a couple hundred bucks.

Next time, try to avoid HP laptops like they're a cancer. The build quality of them is poor.
It's because you've been staring at it too long you soulless,pale-faced,asexual,mistake of God.
