I do doubt that you know what the word ghetto means - at least to them (because, of course, it's quite likely that she simply grew up hearing something nasty about the word) and either way, she reacted. While calling her ghetto probably wasn't a wise move to begin with, I wouldn't call you racist so much as ignorant, at the most - you weren't oppressing or degrading her, you were simply remarking.

First off, why would you say something borderline. Everything you've told us tells us you knew she was a crazy bitch, stereotypical black chick who actually WAS from the ghetto. You should've known even though it wasn't racist at all, she'd flip her shit.

Second, no it's really not racist. She's just flipping her shit because she can. Because that was on the borderline, and tbh, almost every chance a black person has had the opportunity to pull the race card on sometone, I've seen them take it. Though that depends on the person. But all but one black person I've met has taken every opportunity to pull the race card.

You're better off just not saying that stuff around people you aren't freindly with, as if they pull the race card and shit goes further south (e.g. a fight breaks loose) then you're at a disadvantage when shit goes to those with administrative power at your school. Or to court. Because you're "racist".
