Importants of art in society.

As an artist, both musically and vocally I've got to say, what the hell do I contribute?

A song? An advertisement? I mean really I don't help society nearly as much as a doctor or a construction worker. I'm surprised people even take me seriously, In 4 years I'll have a well paying job and (hopefully) continue playing weekend gigs for cash., and I barely do any work at all.

I guess I might make life more entertaining, but am I vitally important? Hell no.

Also, without art and music people would have nearly no way (except directly announcing their emotions) to creatively release their feelings.

When I think of artists, I think of entertainers. Music entertains us. Paintings entertain... some people. Flash artists and video game makers entertain people. TV entertains us. To me, artists are all entertainers. The only thing that bugs me is when uppedy people try to tell me it is important for me to be exposed to "culture" and whatnot when all they really mean is they want to show me a form of entertainment that is more outdated than the Atari.

It shows that you are talented and you could say that about a lot of things. A lot of people are actors or sportspeople who get tons of money for it. It is mostly because we like to watch people doing these things or there are just a lot of people who like fine art and stuff. Some look at it as being part of our culture and by being talented at anything in popular culture, you have given pride for your country or something like that.

Without art, we are without entertainment. That wouldn't make us animals... it would be more like an entire race of people with the personality of Ben Stein.

I feel art is a great part of society. There may not be seen to be many jobs, but lets be honest, its a hard industry to get into. But it does contribute rather a lot I reckon.
