The last achievement he got on Newgrounds was game over T-T
His soul will still live on the portal history.

Heh funny how the last badge he got was "Game Over" ANYWAYS will there be an art section up? I might want to do a collage of his greatest work. Also how DID he die? last thing I remember was going on newgrounds and someone said he was dead on his news post (Back then I didn't have an account just so you know)
R.I.P. Ben Spurgin
R.I.P Ben. It's nice to see that there are nice people on Newgrounds. No offense.
I'm going to make sure to learn Flash a lot better so I can contribute to that day.
Today's Blue Light Special will be Ass Kicking on Isle 9
Ben may be gone but he lives on in the Stick Slayer!

So, I share the same birthday as a dead guy on Newgrounds who taught himself Flash and shit? Cool, I shall now proceed to respect this guy's death.

But what about other people? Many users, especially the newer ones will have no idea who he is. Stickslayer isn't even featured on the flash portal with the other characters. He's not as much a part of the Newgrounds culture as other characters. This essentially excludes a large demographic.
But see, my problem is that if he was still alive there would be no Stickslayer Day. The thought would never have occurred to anyone. Yes, it's sad he died. But is that a reason to give him a day? Well, since Livecorpse died, let's give him a day too. And how about that Jeff Weise. He gave Newgrounds publicity, he deserves one too.
Everyone is just giving him more credit than he deserves because he's dead.
This is a very bad idea.
why some folks get "a day" and others don't ... that, I could see as a viable arguing point
Wrong. It's not a viable arguing point. I'm not protesting the day right now. I'm just gonna say one thing: Do NOT compare Ben Spurgin to Martin Luther King Jr., Christopher Columbus, or Jesus Christ. He doesn't compare to any of those men. Not even remotely....
The guy didn't Actually diedie did he? Or did he just stop using Newgrounds? So you're celebrating his life on Newgrounds, his actual LIFE right? If I'm incorrect. R.I.P

This can't be emphasized enough. I remember seeing the Stick Slayer series and finally understanding what satire was. Ben influenced me in that his work gave me a new way to look at art-- as a form of peaks and valleys, a never-ending flow of one work building off another. Ben's work should be remembered (hell, it's still better than the stuff I'm making now) and I think this event will be a great tribute to an artist taken from our community far too soon.
