That is called apathy and it is what is wrong with this world.

I'd wager that your over-estimating the scale of the problem, drastically. It's usually better to research a topic than stab blindly in the dark.

That's not apathy. It would be apathetic if he Lunaful had said "We'll never fix the problem so let's just ignore it". He didn't; what he said was sensible. Quite a difference.

I just told you, drive through the nearest projects/ghetto and you will see this is the truth. I HAVE done my own research. Housing projects like the one called "Fair Oaks" not far from where I live are funded by tax dollars. This places are dangerous as per the rampant crime that occurs in the ghetto. You don't see wheelchair bound gang members selling dope on the street. If anyone in that environment actually DID need welfare they wouldn't live very long in such an environment. I wish the US Census would do some kind of research into this matter. As far as I am concerned, if you are physically capable of doing work and are still drawing from the system, you are abusing the system. And I stand by my 90% estimate.

What he said is let's leave it to someone else. Its this attitude of "they", "them", and "the man" have it all under control so why should we lift a finger or care when we see blatant abuse of the system on a large scale? Not our problem. That IS the very definition of apathy. And while it is understandable, I would not go so far as to call it sensible.

So your making huge assumptions about entire populations due to a few anecdotal observations? That seems logical...
A large welfare fraud investigation conducted in LA County in late 90s found that of all welfare recipients investigated, less than 50% had any discrepancy in their welfare. Of the cases in which there were discrepancies, 25% were minor and did not effect the amount of money received.

90% is a tremendous over-estimation

He never once attempted to imply it wasn't our problem. What he did say, is that there are people employed to take care of this problem, and they can most likely deal with it more efficiently than us. What he said, makes perfect sense.

That IS the very definition of apathy.

It's not.

And while it is understandable, I would not go so far as to call it sensible.

Clearly, I would.
