Composer wanted! 2010-09-28 00:38:44 Reply

I'm looking for a composer to score my senior project. It's going to be around 11 minutes long.

The project is called Mt. Feathertop and we will start with the sound design and music end of Nov or Dec and need it done by the beginning of next March.

We're looking for something similar to this style: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0oF_G4aW SU

Let me know if you're interested and we can talk more! Send me a PM or email me at nathaniel.milburn@gmail.com

Thanks! Nath

I think the idea is great, but I think the people here with experience in that style of music is very narrow. I would say I'd like to, but whenever that happens, someone more well known like Rucklo or SBB or BJRA always ends up jumping in "HEY I'LL DO IT LET ME ZUCK YA DICK!" and topples my jenga tower. That is very much a commercial music project. I'll see what I can do, I have to start studying that style. I have worked with orchestral, but not with that kind of orchestral scoring.

No need to go into specifics, but to clarify, are you looking for a pro bono composer? Or is there payment involved? It might seem like a silly question but people ask for free stuff all the time and the difference between free and paid completely changes the product output your going to get, likely.

If anyone has the courage to take this on, I can provide any soundfonts you need. I have the perfect instruments for that.

Okay, honestly, I can't get crap out. The whole point of the audio is to sync up with the animation, and I have no animation to work by. Creating a sample is so futile because the kind of music is purposely made because of animation.

You dont need an animation, but its okay to think so if you haven't worked with composition like this before. You have a picture and concept for the animation as well as a concept of what kind of sound he wants. Use this to create a theme, something that can carry over to evoke every emotion you need it to with the same melody.

Once you have your main theme everything can stem from this once you have the actual project to work with

I think he means like the old Disney cartoons where the music worked as "Sound effects" to the animation, case in point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBgghnQF6 E4 (skip to 4:20)

Actually I meant how the animation seems to move with the music. Like when taking a footstep, a flute might play and go up a note each step in a suspenseful situation, or a clarinet will play to the movement of something in a silly situation. The music is intertwined with the animation.

Making the stuff time up is a challenge, but coming up with the actual theme requires no specific tempo or syncing or ANYTHING, and thats step one anyways. Havent you ever heard of a mock up? they arent given a scene to compose music too--they are given conceptual art, pictures, ideas from the director, examples of the type of sound--then they take all that imagery and make a theme...you have all that more or less
