4.09 / 5.00 12,195 ViewsEvery year, there are defining moments in media -- a band, a song, a movie, a book, a TV show, whatever. Point is, it gets to be so much that some consider it to be "overrated."
But overrated is not necessarily a bad thing, which brings me to this thread. What is, in your opinion, something that is EXTREMELY overrated... but deservingly so? It's still, in your opinion, good?

I thought AVATAR had good animation and special effects but the storyline was overrated.
Wait, but if something is deserving of being rated as high as it is,then it wouldn't be overrated would it? It would be more like correctlyrated.
Eminem used to be alright, but became way too famous. Also he sucks nowadays.

So you prefer his songs that were like
"yaba yaba dick dick. you fucked up kid dick fucked up the kid while his uncle got head on his dick dick fuck"
?
Tupac, sure he was good and he got big, but he isn't as good as the praise he gets says he is, every line he says is the best line ever to the "hip hop is dead" circle jerkers, I called Hit Em Up not the best diss song ever and a Tupac faggot fan told me to never talk about hip hop again (even the actual song has two or three disses, most of it is just fuck you and you and you).

He changed, became more mature, but still he's the best mainstream rapper now.

cough Big Boi cough
Recovery is definitely better than Relapse and Encore, but nowhere close to MMLP or The Eminem Show.

To me, hes one of the few artists who can continuously make good albums, old stuff and new stuff.
Anyways, Avatar was over rated but it was kind of cool... not as cool as everyone made it out to be though.
What is your definition of something that is rated extremely accurately?

cough Andre 3000 cough
Oh shit, are we talking still relevant? Big Boi is great then. OutKast as a whole was better than both of them, though.

I agree, although I like(d) all of the above. Recovery is fantastic, and a great way to get younger people into Em's music.
Which reminds me, you're like 14. That you know about MMLP surprises me.

I haven't actually heard anything by them except for Hey Ya! I'll have to listen to them.

You liked Encore? You are a more tolerant man than I.

I remembered the song The Real Slim Shady and looked it up. The rest is history.

Didn't it win a Grammy?

Strongly agree. It's definitely a good film, but not one I can watch again and again. Nonetheless, if people love it, I'm cool with that.

Shit, I forgot lol.
Was also nominated for Album of the Year. That's big news.

Communism hiding under other names.
If you can't fuck it or eat it....destroy it
Citizen Kane. Being commonly used as the shorthand for "greatest ____ of all time" will automatically make anything overrated, but that doesn't mean that Kane isn't still one of the best movies ever made.
Though I'm hesitant to call The Beatles overrated...
Modern, Western Civilization - mostly because of it's inability to accept other cultures as functional, viable forms of civilization. But yeah, I'm not complaining too much, because I'd still rather be a capitalist then a communist.
Final Fantasy VII.
Very very overrated but it doesn't stop it being any less good. It was the first taste of rpgs and/or FF games to a lot of people and its legacy lives on for a reason.
It always makes me laugh to hear other Final Fantasy fans go on about how VII isn't really good and it's all about V or VI or even IX.
Then you remind them that they wouldn't have played any of those if it wasn't for them playing VII. Oh they don't like that.
Definitely the Call of Duty and Halo games. Everyone tries to stay away from them because it's "burned out", but those are damn fun games.
