Does anyone else think that they are just a drain to be around?

People who constantly "boohoo" and talk about how shitty their life was or is. People that don't ever act like anything is good and always try to find faults in something and focus on that instead of the good in something. What about when people constantly say that they are going to kill themselves just so people will pity them? Who in the fuck wants to be pitied? I would be pissed off and ashamed if I ever noticed somebody pitied me. I just notice that some users on here like FUNKbrs just don't seem to ever want to have a bit of fun and kind of seem angry/bitter (I said seem... I don't know how his mind really works).

You mean realists? If anything it's stupid to ignore obvious faults in things or just focus on positive aspects. Optimists and pessimists are both pretty stupid, but pessimists at least have some basis for their thinking because if you just step back and look at the state of the world, it's a really fucked up place. Realists and pragmatists have it right because we don't just assume things are going to be good or bad and we don't take everything at face value.

I definitely agree. People gravitate towards happy, positive people so keeping a big ol' smile on your face will really get you places. I used to be a down, whiny emo fuckfart, until one day I just decided to change. After about a week of being nice and positive I had friends, was generally liked and was no longer the embodiment of pretentious dickbaggery! What a success!

I used to be all complainy and whiny, and still am to a degree. I've calmed down a lot with it recently though. there are plenty of reasons to be happy and plenty of reasons to be sad, so both sides of the fence are justifiable. it's just a matter of picking one you actually believe.

It depends what level of negativity you're looking at. Obviously, you said here it's just things that irritate you, but by constantly bringing them to light in 2-3 paragraphs for a discussion, you're surfacing your negativity whether it is an irritant or a complete downer.

I am actually a pretty happy person who tries to find the good in things. I just find it easier to make topics about things that bother me on an online forum. It is more interesting to tell some story where something bad happened to me than to make a topic saying "LOL I like candy bars".

Actions on an online forum don't always provide an accurate portrayal of someones personality. That is why is stressed that it only seemed like FUNKbrs is a negative person.

I'm a negative and pessimistic person and I can't help it. It doesn't mean that I think my life sucks or I'm always down in the dumps. I just don't have any expectations, then you can't be let down. I have days where I can be optimistic as hell and some days where I'm introverted and depressed.
