All I wanted was to move out.
Now that I'm leaving all I wanna do is stay. This place is home regardless of how much I hate it.
What really got to me was when I realized I can't take the stars on my ceiling with me.
Has this happened to anyone?

I move all the time so it really isn't a big deal to me.
wwwwwwwwwww
It happens pretty often. I have a few friends who left for college this year, and all they were talking about last year is how badly they wanted to leave town.
A week or so before they move out they say how much leaving is gonna suck.
Buy new stars. I've moved five times in the past year, so I'm used to it now. I just hate packing.
Release your inner crazy.
Its pretty normal to think that way. People always seem to want what they can't have. I've never moved before but all i want at the moment is to get out of this house and find my own place. I'm sure when i finally do move out I'll miss this shitty place.

Moving has more of an effect on people if they've stayed in one place for all or most of their life. Like if you grew up in a small town and lived there until you moved for college, it would be a bigger deal to you than someone who moved around often.
I've moved plenty of times, and it always sucks at first. It's especially hard trying to feel at home in a new place. But after a couple weeks I start to feel secure and comfortable in my new place. It definitely helps to hang pictures or posters on the wall, get some good lighting, and decorate the new place a little. Then have friends come over and party at your new pad.
I think this is very ordinary. My sister moved out a few years back and was crying harder than Miss Piggy at a slaughterhouse.
About a week later, she was saying she wouldn't dream of moving back in and moving out was the best decision of her life! So just give it time broseph, it'll get easier.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has felt this way. Leaving for college can be pretty difficult. And in response to your 2nd post: it has been a pretty strange experience. 7 years of this god awful trailer park, yet I'll miss the trees I planted. My herb garden. All of my flowers..

Buy new stars :) You know Lucy, that's gonna be my happy thought from here out. I can put stars on all the ceilings.. I can personalize my space with my happy thought. Thanks for the shooting star to get me through.
And yes, all those damn boxes! box after box... I'm sure I'll be better when all of my stuff is back out where I can see it instead of sitting in this empty shell of what used to be a living room. Ain't much livin goin on here right now. New stars...new constellations. YOU HAVE OPENED MY EYES!

Posters will be among the first things to be hung, and we're getting a new couch too. My wife is pickin it up as I type, so we'll have decoration and comfortable seating. All the elements for a good party, all we need now is the pizza!

Your analogies rock :D

Yeah, It'll feel good to start fresh. I think the this house which used to keep me safe is emotionally trapping me and stunting my abillity to grow and change.

gives you an excuse to act like a wildman and say, "I'm the new guy."
WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THAT DUDE WITH THE RED HAT BROWN TRENCH COAT AND SHOTGUN?!?! I miss the old ASSASSIN days. Click Me
I'm soon to be moving, and I'd rather stay because I don't really like change, I've gotten used to my routine like life here and having to get a different bus and get up at different times in the morning (parents ran a guest house which we lived in for the past 8/9 years so it's more than just a new location). I also don't like the idea of having to dismantle my entire desk with all my shit on, both because I don't want it to get damaged and because it took ages to set up and that was less than a month ago.
Get new stars? Just wait until you get to your new place, you'll feel better.
Nope. When i moved away i thought to myself "I have a car and i can drive so i can always come back and visit" when i thought about my friends i thought to myself "I have a car and i can drive so i can always come back and visit and make new friends where I'm moving" and so on and so forth.
"On rainy days, I just sit there and make deals with the devil. The fun never ends..."
I'm the complete opposite ATM I have lived in my current house all my life, and whilst we are not moving far away (only 20 miles) I really didn't want to move, but now I just want to get it over and done with.
